Survey: Mileage achieved for RM50 petrol

good day Adam...

Well yes it would be best to trust and listen to 'your' mechanic or tuner...right ?

Why would you give your car keys to someone you don't trust ??

And the reason Toby mentioned about doing it his way was also to save you the trouble in the long run...go ask anyone and see if a VR4 is actually meant for a Wira / Putra chasis...In the long run you would have reliability , mounting and drive shaft problems....so why wanna take da risk mate.... ;)

We hope you would have planted your VR4 in a safe and trouble free environment...

Cheers... SDF B)

Do it right the first time....

U might save up abit now.. but in d long run, if problems arised from it, you'll be troubled by it, and they'll be responsible for it....

There are lotsa cases whereby owners wanna do it their way..and the workshop jes doesnt care about the car / conversion / owner 's future well being.. then.. cases like.. car can't brake.. Over heat... aircond rosak... every 6 months driveshaft gets worn out... gearbox rosak due to improper fitting... and etc..

Imagine, u drive yer car out ok.. then sometime down the road.. someting happens.. go back again.. and again.. and again... that is, if u dont get it right the first time... I notice something through experience... there's no such thing as short cuts.. i tried it.. i.e. MSD.. went to another workshop to install some ignition booster.. cant even get d engine started.. no explanation give.. nothing.. jes shake head.. shake cock.. and bye bye....

1 whole day wasted.. everybody's timei is precious.. imagine, sending the car to the workshop at 10am.. getting the car back at 6pm.. with holes punched here and there... for mounting.. but in d end.. everyrhing went back to stock.. y? can't start... y cant start?? *silence*... then days later after much grumbling.. i hear something about ohms not d same..dis and dat... yeah..watever man..

Later.. went to GT.. got the explanation y it cant get started... apparently there was 1 thing 'not' complete... oh well.. watever.. took their method.. and viola... started..and got much more power and fuel economy out of it... everything was modded in accordance to what was 'calculated'.. no talk kok sing song... shake head . ...shake kok scenario....

Yep, abit pricey..at least the car 'was started up'...! and the performance was.. well, put it this way... with NOS engaged, all 4 Wheel were burning tyres with my RAV...

Imagine, u spend X amount of $$ on yer car in accordance to what u want.. Workshop X doesnt give a shit.. they know in d long run, there are bound to be problems.. so they take yer $$X.. and be jolly with it... then in future, u come back, they get $$Y for the problems...

Here, they know the problem, they dun want u to go through the hassle.. u pay slightly more, or perhaps abit more... but u'll not be going through the shits that u'll be facing with $$X... Have u ever wondered why they still have so many customers? coz these customers paid $$X & $$Y at other workshops before and went through shits...

Unless of coz, d person is d type of dude who likes to hang out at the Garage all d time, go back there, talk kok sing song shake head shake kok with them... hehehe...

hahhaa....sounds familiar....

alot of em like to say..."no problem one...try first see how...."

then later....

".....err...sure can solve one fren...err....give us couple of days to check first....err...leave da car here first lar...."

and what do we get ?
Guys complaining in forums...mamaks...roadsides...cafes....about no car to use...workshop too full to check his problems....this lar...that lar...

totally agree with blackie and sdf....
although i dun go Grand Theft Auto... its true that when you transplant... don't take the easy way out... i rather pay the mechanic even more as long as the mechanic has the skills and dignity not to do a haphazard job.

another thing is... never save on parts during transplant etc etc... its cheaper to change them while the engine is out than to do it when problem arises... ask those who blown their engine coz of a broken timing belt... u'll get the idea

yup, agree too.....

many workshop talk cock sing song, how expert they are..'we charge very cheap only....no need so exspensive one.....$xxxx....i can kautim everything for you'... then later they will say, oh! u have extra pay for this and that, this one not including in our charge one..this lah..that lah....

experience in once, a friend, talk cock how expert he is, how cheap he only charge..ok..then i let him change my timing belt and metal gasket. done, start my car, the idling up and down..then ask why like this?..he said :' oh, ur timing run alreayd lah...ur initial got problem lah, end up ask me self go and solve the problem. got GT check, timing belt not install properly..wo...the expert can;t even fix the timing belt in right way....then my car knocking like hell, GT checked, o...the engine head licking.....again, an expert can not fix the gasket in right way..wa....i just feel like i send my car to repair and service, but end up with they make my car even worst then before...

i do my engine transplant 4 years ago. then those ah beng workshop ask where u do the transplant?...i said do it in Ralliart. then they ask how much?..i said Rmxxxx, wa....so exspensive one...let me do mah...i charge very cheap only... ya..i know they charge very cheap, but can they make my car in right way?....after my car out from ralliart, my car never have any big problem i just do some normal service like change engine oil only.:)...so a reliable mech is very important...

hahaha...:D...

anything wrongs with Ralliart?...hehehe.....:P....last time know the japanese guy at there mah, Taguchi. then ask him to help me lo...heheh..

Well thanks for the concern but i had done the transplant , with a different engine , i had opt for evo 1 which cost me a grand total 9,000 on the halfcut , parts , exhaust , meters , labour and a new coat of paint in the engine bay , to be honest the conversion was a clean one , it's been 6 months and its runing smooth .

This newly open workshop in shah alam did the job for me , they told me to leave my car for 5 days and to my surprise on day 4 they called me up to get the engine crank'ed , im really happy with the way they do thing's . I bet there are many other good workshops , just that they stay low profile .

Cheers

wah 4 days!? even my wiring took a week++
total mine took like weeks... must be bcoz i squeeze the mechanic do more shit for me... 1 shot do everything lah...

Yep, i totally agree.. there are other good workshops around but low profile... i.e PTS Motorsports in SS3... Under 5 in Kota Kemuning and
etc... all low profile... GT Auto also kinda low profile, it's just that we
(sdf, me, and some other customers) felt that it's best to share with
others wat good workshops are out there... These workshops dont
need to go online to promote about their stuffs...

yupz..

good to hear that Adam... ;)

Like Blackie juz said..GT is actually low profile..but a couple of us tends to mention bout their names off and on to people who require 'help'....not to do HARD SELLING like some who actively spend time online to brag and show their workshops online !

Cheers...

Yep, abit pricey..at Grand Theft Auto.
If cheap but workmanship is so-so, still can compromise abit lar. just close one eye lor. Wat to expect?

But some so called "HAi-Performance" workshop charge damn farking expensive  and the work they do like dog shit. I learn this the HARD way. :(

If not mistaken, there is a saying "Penny wise, dollar fool"

Example, last time my previous workshop installed 5 button AFC. I had to go back 5 FARKING times because the asshole could noy figure out why the car could not iddle properly and the check engine lite was on.

So he took the easy way out, he told me to return the AFC because it was faulty. I almost fought with the seller of the AFC (who is ZTH member too) because the seller insisted it was working properly when he took it out from his own car.

THen later on I found out the stupid dick ass mechanic spliced the wrong wires.

MKCH!! install RM90. "Tuning" the AFC (notice how I sarcastically stated "Tuning") RM100 , take out fomr my car another farking RM90 ) Total RM280 spent for nothing!!!

How he tune? just drive around the workshop area and set the fuel setting with his butt-dyno

THe seller later sold to another buyer and it has been working perfectly.

I hope that fellow ZTH member forgive me.

i go to a few workshops nowdays , if i wanna do my aircond i go to real aircond shop , if wanna to fix suspension go tyre shop , if engine i got a few workshops to go , can't stick to one la . no workshops that i trust nowdays all want extra money . i notice some workshops , if i bring my own stuff , the labour charge sure damn high , if buy the parts from them will be cheaper . they know i get cheap price from spart part shop , they take advantage .

vex...

kinda normal ma...imagine if someone brought their own computer parts to u...prob u'd wanna charge a lil premium for your services too right... ;)

we can't go Karaoke and bring our own sound system ma....

but if ur papaya nice..maybe the farm oso wanna HIRE your papaya's !!!

go pasang microtech, haltech, motec and batek sure can control fuel right? to bad fuel price hike kaw-kaw this year..better play solar car lah like this :P

20vturbo: actually... the haltech is playing an important role to my car's fuel consumption...without it, i think the fuel consumption could be quite bad
