Proton Records High Demand for S70 with 1 Unit Booked every 4 minutes

The C-segment sedan market in Malaysia is seeing a resurgence, led largely by the updated 2026 Proton S70. Since order books officially opened on 11 February 2026, PROTON has secured 7,157 bookings. This averages out to approximately one booking every four minutes over the first month.

This early surge adds to a larger success story for the nameplate. Since its original debut in November 2023, PROTON has delivered 40,112 units to Malaysian customers, signaling a strong shift in consumer interest back toward traditional sedans.

Performance and Specifications​

The 2026 Proton S70 continues to leverage its power to price ratio as its primary selling point. Under the hood, it features:

• Engine: 1.5-litre i-GT 4-cylinder Turbocharged engine.
• Output: 181PS and 290Nm of torque.
• Transmission: 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

This mechanical setup is paired with a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and modern connectivity. These features position the S70 as a more sophisticated alternative to entry-level sedans without the premium price tag typically associated with the C-segment.

Recognizing that rapid sales must be matched by service capacity, PROTON has highlighted its extensive support infrastructure:

• Network Scale: 190 3S/4S outlets and 77 Body & Paint (B&P) centres nationwide.
• Service Initiatives: Programs like 1-Day Service Delivery and the provision of relief vehicles for extended repairs are being prioritized to manage the growing fleet of S70s on the road.
