World War 2 Tragedy in Hong Kong

Right after Japan invaded HK, they sealed all warehouses, stores and supplies. Force citizen to use military currency (M) and the exchanged was 2HK for 1M and the longer it gets the less supplies were left not only everything cost more, the currency fell to 4HK for 1M.

After war ends, all military currency value = 0. Allot of people lost their richness from father's leftovers, hard work etc.

Hong Kong citizen petition to sue Japan Government but failed to get compensation because there was no international law for compensation regarding military currency.

However Japan automatically compensates the state of Taiwan on their ww2 crimes. So Hong Kong is fighting again to get theirs.

One old hong kong man shows a briefcase full of military currency worth 30 million of his father's leftover savings.

Hong Kong had 1,650,000 citizens before WW2 but left no more than 600,000 after Japan surrender.

During end period due to lack of food, Japan army forced people to boats and send them out to sea and thrown alive, while some were shot before thrown aboard.

Those still healthy / strong will swim back to shores, but distance was far, shore were large stones, allot died in sea and at shores. Survivors step on top of dead bodies, as well as pile of skeletons.

There was no food, adults eats dying children alive. Some were made into human flesh pao. Hong Kong's 1st Yan Yok Ca Siu Pao actually started in ww2 and not early 80s crime

Britain was hand-full themselves, decides not to defend hong kong, not sending troops, no point to pull back less than 4,000 men and leave hong kong in chaos. Managed to persuade Canada to send "MORALE" support.

Canada sent 2 regiment = 2,000 soldiers (sudden and not well trained) all volunteers, all did not know what is hong kong to reinforce the british less than 4,000 and local polis.

When they arrived, due to lack of organization…. The supplies did not arrive, i.e. ammunitions, food, medical, each soldier only had on them no more than 8 rifle cartridge, 2 grenades, 1 week of food. They were also not familiar with the landscape.

500 Canadians died on 1st day of Japan invasion, their graves lie in HK.

Less than 150 Canadian wears "Hong Kong Veteran" badges now - survivors of ww2.

Why I write this? - because I am in Shenzhen, China now and China is celebrating "Reject Japan" 60 years anniversary, including Hong Kong for 60 days starting 1st July. Everyday ww2 documentaries are shown on TV nearly all channels, nearly all time....

I've seen many and realised why our (chinese) great grand parents fled China and can't helped but share with you guys.....

BTW Japan started China invasion sine late 1800 .... implementaed before ww1. But always failed.... they attempted many times over many years until ww2 it all ended.

Technically China was at "silent" war with Japan since 1890 to 1945. That's why so many Chinese fled ........

I didn't know it started that early........

Skermishes would happen here and there but never big enough to be made into a "war" hence no official war..... but started since 1890.

Some were real smalls like killing of a whole family.... outskirts and no body knows...

Some were as big as several thousands

Some were as big as several hundreds of thousands (1937 nan jing) even then China did not retaliate officially.....

No thanks to China political instability.... there was no real one china....... Only the state / regional government retaliated, but always too late, always never defend from the begining, but always not strong enough, because Japan, too well prepared...

haih,,......... like I say........ it's all over TV..... I've seen too much...... I'll end here.

cool story......

While I love the next-generation Japanese, its sick to even read about their past doings. Pictures have proven that the military really were demons...

And now, so many years later, they're trying to alter history in their text books. How nice.

wei chin, hows life la??? joining kok min tang edi kah?? ahahahhahahahaha

Hey Chin, now i understand why there are those Chinese HK movies that show how the Japanese are always the bad guys Even during those silly kung fu years, right up to the current days.

Anyway sometimes its hard to forget these things. Even worse for those old timers. For me depends on how i want to figure it out. I could..

Forget the past and look to the future.
Spend more time hating Japan.
Boycott Japanese stuff and keep championing for a cause even when i'm not born yet.
Spend time fearing another WW2.
Liking Japanese for giving us great cars. Forget their crimes.
Find more time to hate Japan in the internet and media.
Find more time finding out about HK during the old times.
Forget everything and glad i'm in Malaysia.

My choice is obvious. But then again there is this nagging small little pin in my mind that tells me problems are there. Should i choose to ignore it?

Anyway Chin, when u live in Malaysia u champion Malaysia's cause under our flag. When u work in China/ HK, u are given a chance to see what is happening in their country that our news doesn't show. In fact i'm feeling that your perspective under our own flag might change. Of course everyone has their right to feel symphaty for any country. Me included.

But what could a little dust do in a mountain of sand?

Hi guys...... well, glad that there's no boycott of sad stuff here.....

franky ah, kau ming tang is taiwan lah, over here is kong chan tang :) hahahahah

Tell you something, nowadays to enter kong chan tang is a privilage, selected from a group, say high school they are "forced" to join "tuan" = tuan ti huo tong - like our curiculum - then when they enter Uni they join "tang" and is under observation for attitude, academics, patriotism, leadership, etc etc etc. Finally 2 is approved out of the 50 die-hards. Obviously allot will not join at all. So these 50 are elites and only 2 get to become ....

Anyway, I've learned they are not merely changing history book..... it's complicated... I'll explain another time.

Seriously speaking, Japanese government gives me the creeps........ I don't think they have changed.............. looking at their radical / daring lifestyle of food, shout, drinks, sex .... makes me worry they will commit those crimes again ......... they have very little morale values....... most of them........ they only have very high "FACE" and that does not include any morale values / respect for life / others........

Even today I can see it on their youngster face on news....... it is very strange ..... their parents did not / do not / does not teach them value of life / respect ..... ther only learn to fight and excel..........

Last night there was another documentary and it was about chinese kidnapped to japan as force labour and they were never fed nor provided with cloths and worked with underwear only during winter.

Those factories ... minding companies are not super-corporate in Japan. and they refuse to pay compensation nor make official apolagise, blaming it was late to sue for compensation and that it was the late japanese empire who torchued them not the company....

There was around 20 boxes of old records from ww2 found in one of the giant corporate collective and was supposed to be burned.. but some kind soul secretly sent one (1) copy to Beijing and it recorded over 6,000 was ensalved and how many died during when and all the records of crime deed....

Obviously some salves survived and went back to Japan to see the CEO / MD / Chairman and the security officer / not guard / just typical office staff, was ordered to not let the old man + lawyers + media in.....

This young chap was scolded by the old man, translated by the japanese lawyer... don't know his face is regret / nothing..... that's why I mention I am scared of Japanese young generation ... still like cold blooded......

If it were me...... and if I could survive for 3 months without job.... I'll quit and let them pass to see the CEO, instead of recorded on video for 30 mins and shown on TV.

The surviving old man did an uprising in Japan, but due to 2 kind japanese who didn't torchue them, they postpone the uprising date 3 days, which endangered them, but they still did it because they (700) chinese did not want to hurt the (2) kind japanese.

When they managed to kill all the guards and fled.... they (chinese) did not knock on Japanese villagers door to ask for food or support....

Later they were all captured and you all know what lah....

The Japanese locals respected them all as pure legitimate men..... have high self respect and understanding of locals and respect for locals.

The Japanese built a stone momentum commending chinese forced labour to be more humane than their own and to forever respect their ever none invading attitude. Hundreds of village families was un-touched by the 700 men. Nor beg for food.

It was near winter. It was very cold.

This one is very grousome....... very very explicit ............ seriously.......... nothing above can compare to this one ...................

I'm seriously warning you ...............................................

when the hong kong sick / unhelathy children / dying but not dead was being cut / chopped alive.......... their screams could be heard all over the streets "STILL" .....................................

You better not read this ..............................................

just scroll pass.......................... it is very grusome

sigh~
i read all abt this in a book written by a Chinese female survivor who escaped from "Nan Jing da tu sha". Damn, japanese soldiers were damn cruel.

They just wun let u die so easily.

wat chin said was right. Today's japanese havent change much, most of them are still the same. Their face/pride is more important than any other thing...

When you talk about facts there is nothing to be afraid of, after all its truth and it will stay that way forever.

Its true also the Japanese is consider the most cold blooded human in the world, remember the Japanese have the "HARAKIRI" concept inborn in all of them even until today.

We can never forgive their government for all the gruesome killing they have done to our ancestors, thats the truth and facts.
