Horsepower: How much is enuf?

Guys - whenever subject regarding car arises, horsepower always a highlight in a discussion. Supercars let their engine horsepower do the talking when trying to sell their car. Our Mat motors always try hard to increase horsepower. Adding gadget, installing kits, upgrade this and that etc....Why? all for the sake to gain more horsepower in their car.

So, how much horsepower is enuf?? or horsepower are NEVER enuf for guys??
Give a man 300hp today, tomorrow the guy ask for 350hp......So, when will it ever stop...:Not_Impressed:

trick question , i dunno how to measure horses with persons lol

Daily driver - Reasonable horsepower n torque enuf for a car owner himself can handle. Dont tune the car until overpower end-up in drains. We arent in Japan .. Malaysian roads are not like Japan or US.

Race Driver - An estimation 350 to 450ps is already enuf for a Sepang circuit full run, also depends on the driver himself. Getting a 700ps car into Sepang is a nightmare .. as most of drivers in Malaysia is not bearing Super License.

:)

good night ..

there is no limit for how much u want... horsepower same like money.... we can never earn enough money.... we will never be satisfied with the amount of horsepower we have...

we will alwiz be chasing for more...

300hp on a 4.5ton mobile disco hummer doesn't make sense;

250hp on a striped out 500kg kancil is overkill.

so hp alone to me doesn't mean anything. i look into hp/ton. For me 200hp/ton is all i need. weight measure in car's kerb weight.

this means 180hp is probably all i need.. i guess... 200hp might be unstreetable already..

give me money and a spare car that I would rarely use; than my project will goes to modding the car into a super monster machine with hell lots of horsepower.
Will try to tweak here and there; addd this and that too see how much full max horse power can be pumped out!

but give me a daily ride and normal income; I think I would prefer the car as it is. As long as it doesn't feel underpower.

Many ppl nowadays is interested to see how much horsepower they can get out of their car like I mentioned above. It's part of the curiosity and enthuiastic hobby.

very true.

sometime without a spare car you will have to compromise between practicality and your dream machine... i say dream machine is because different people dream about different stuff.

some ppl is interested in high hp numbers, but like me i just want a "fast car", i don't care how much hp it got, as long as it is fast and i can drive it with the skills i have. (i always dream about cars with ability to stick to the ground = corner at 150km/h no need worry lost traction. in car G-force neutralizer to regulate the ammount of G-force in the car so you won't pass out like in a rocket.. and stuff..)

so.. as for now.. i think the best compromise is still 200hp/ton for a streetable "fast car". doesn't need to have a fix hp figure, as long as you got 200hp/ton should be enough to have fun... more than that you probably won't have the oportunity to use it anyway..

Hp

I'd guess that it's the $$$ & the satisfaction level of one....

Are human's ever satisfied with anything ???

yeap...human nature.
U'll be crazy for more once u really get into it.....

250hp on a 500kg kancil is not overkill
heard about freestream T1?1000hp per tonne?
caterham RS500?
but to me...1500hp is enuff
wahhaha..then u can see burning rubbers on track

.I am in love with the RS4.:adore:
.and now with S6..5.2 L V10 .damn gallardo engine..
..:adore:

I think every car has a limit for a maximum efficent HP..after that its just a waste of resources..
for example my longterm goal.for my vr4 will be 300 or 350Whp..should be enuf ..:burnout: ..haha..once that goal is achieved..new goals will always come up..haha

1 word.... money = horsepower ~

da more money u hav, den da higher horsepower u gain

i do asume your idea of fun-to-drive car is different than me, as well as most people i guess, they all differ in someway.

i do consider caterham abit overpowered for daily driving on the road except the few lesser models.

once u've reached the "limit"; than it's human nature for your to achieve the impossible....errrr.....trying to break the limit.
Curiosity to see whether or not we can go over the limit.

Anyway, all of the mods still needs money. No money no talk!

yeah no money no talk...

hmm.. about the limit.. no technically it is hard to break the limit. since when you wish for more power, it means your skill is increasing and that means your limit also increases.

guess it would be fair to say its the "limit" that is keep on increasing, well, until you got old and g-force hurt your back.. then its time to retire lar...

as long as u are a petrol head, i'm sure u will alwiz keep hunting for more power in ur ride...

if u know nothing about car, u wouldnt care if the car got power or not as long as it brings u from A to B....
