Hi guys,

Just wondering after we install the oil cooler set together with Oil Temp & Oil Pressure meter, what is the reading for normal driving & SIC driving?

Normal Driving - Oil Temp should show what reading? Oil Pressure should show what reading?

SIC Track - Oil Temp reading can't more than? Oil Pressure should show what reading?

Anyone can help here?

i dunno the answer....but wah... u really modding the car eh?

getting ready for SIC time attack?

Yes. Getting ready for SIC as I am a SIC fan. Last time track with my SEG 20V....

well...i dunnow any detailed reading for honda.....

but normally oil temp was good for around 70-85degree C....for high performance driving mostly the temp would go up as high as 97degree C....if anything more than 100degree C than considered as the oil would be in redzone and above 110degree C the oil considered hangus afterwards....

:adore: thats the rule of thumb in myself regarding any car/engine :adore:

How about the oil press reading?

normal drive is between 3-4 bar, idle maybe at least 2 bar.... full throttle at least 6-10 bar

Oil temp climb slower, but at max is very close to water temp. Oil press depend on rpm, it's driven by the timing belt. Pressures are like stated above. Vtec with the VTP(vtec pressure) switch require 40psi (about 2bars) to engage. I'm guessing this is to prevent vtec engaging at low pressures and causing the oil pres at critical parts like crank/cam/etc from dropping too low. No idea why they removed the VTP on the Type r tho. Type r pump maybe output higher pres?

Still, an oil pres a good thing to have on cars that are used aggressively. If oil pressure drops suddenly, consider stop driving and checking out for leaks or worn parts, like the cam seal, for instance. I've been told loose crank bearings also can cause pressure drop, but not sure as it's not a personal experience.

please recheck the 40psi part, i think it's right, but not sure

40psi when convert to bar is about 3 bar when rounded up...just to be precise

One more thing. How about Vacuum reading? Actually how this Vacuum meter function?
Do we check the reading when idle time?

Just finish install my Oil cooler set today. Below is the reading.

Oil Temp:-

Just now at night on highway maintain at 110km for long distance, reading slowly climb up to 100 degree & stop. Is this good or bad? Coz it's at night & which mean if in the afternoon, Oil Temp reading will be much more higher?

Oil Pressure:-

When idling, it stay at 2.2 bar & when maintain at 110km at highway, it rch 5.8bar & climb up when full throttle. I think Oil Press reading is pretty good.

Vacuum:-

When idling, it holds at 55 which I think is normal.

Any comment on the Oil Temp reading? Will it cost by engine oil? Better engine oil will have lower reading? I have not change my engine oil for 3 months already coz seldom drive the car...

Bro peterj,

When my car idle, it stay at 1.8-1.9bar cant rch 2bar. But I found out when my car idle, the idling is quite low. Around 6++rpm. When I slowly press d fuel pedal to 8++rpm the Oil Press reading rch 2 bar.

So is my Oil Press reading is ok?

Normal drive & full throttle reading as you stated above. Just that idle d reading below 2 bar abit...

normal, since the oil press is proportional to ur rpm... but i do discover my evo 4 engine oil pressure are low, but open oil cap, the oil even split out till whole valve cover, my reading when how just bout 2bar plus........ if idle, just less than 1 bar... maybe the pressure reading vary on engine, for ur info, my oil press meter used was the same as used on my mivec last time.... maybe the bending of the sensor copper wire caused this, or it is originally like this....

Ic. Thanks for the confirmation. Means my car oil pressure is ok. By the way, hw to see the oil pressure drop? Is it when rev the oil pressure reading also wont be going up? Right?

Oil press should be idle at 2.0 bar. Normally maintain at 4-5 bar when cruising at highway. Oil temp almost same like water temp with around 85-90. Anything more than 110 is dangerous.

My oil temp in d afternoon is around 100-102 degree but normaly driving. At night lower la but my friend oil temp reading in d afternoon is around 8+ - 90 degree only. Wht my reading so high one?

At night lower of coz. Even with new engine oil, d oil temp reading still the same. What's wrong??? :hmmmm:

In this case die lo. Normal driving at noon already 100 degree. If got track sure shot more than 120 degree lo....:bawling:
