Silver Evo 7 Accident

notiguy, did your friend tell you how the accident happened.. so early in the morning... :(
suspected someone threw nails and oil all over and he just lost control of the car....

that silver evo was mine. thanks to notiguy and others for your kind words of concern.

i was on the way to bangsar from midvalley. not sure abt speed but i was in 4th gear, off-boost, not more than 3000rpm. evo drivers will know roughly what speed it was. i overtook a slow motorcycle, and entered the second lefty in the right lane.

suddenly all tyres are screeching, and my rear end is swinging out to the right side. i just slowly lift off the throttle and give a bit of counter steer, but too late, the back is already out and i am already facing the left side railing. i hit the railing, continue to spin and hit the centre divider kerb before resting back on the left side.

i stepped out of the car, and sat down on the kerbside. less than a minute and the first tow truck agents arrived already, which makes me suspect something dodgy. maybe oil on the road, or something that caused a tire blowout. anyway i don't want to simply point fingers at others, as it could still be driver error (i'm not such a great driver also, so who knows, rite?). it all happened so fast, over in less than 2 secs. i'm only thankful didn't fall off over the left side of the flyover.

upon inspection, the damage is mostly to the front. back is dented a bit where it hit the railing, and the rear wing broke off. i'll know the full extent of the damage something next week.

i sure feel the loss, and i'm reminded every time i pass my empty parking lot. i'm thankful my wife was not with me during the incident. i am surprised that so many people have heard abt my accident from others and sms me or call me to check with me - thanks to all.

dude, hope that you're alright. sometimes i wonder how come this towtruck are so damn alert. few years back i was involve in a minor accident in which i nearly whack the back of a perdana but the 4 cars behind were not as lucky as me. the moment i got out of my car and walk to the back to talk to the driver behind, i saw someone running from the side of the road and within 1 minute, he was there giving out name card and telling me all sort of bullshit but i didn't buy his story and wat he promise me.

apart from suspecting these callman, there's a possibility that your car suffered from mechanical failure coz its quite unusual to spin like that unless your differential or suspension or brakes had a failure.

prodigy, you are right. i have gone through all the possibilities in my mind so many times already - what could have gone wrong.

initially i suspected the suspension or steering linkage also, but a new set of tein coilovers had just gone on a week ago - bought and installed by N1 Racing. the suspension was allowed to bed in, then a full geometry setup was done by YSKhong's place. i got the guy to do a full check of all the suspension parts - ARB, tie rod ends, ball joints, CV joints, steering bushes, etc etc - and i was told everything is tight and OK.

the only thing wrong with the car at the time was the fuel tank meter refused to go until the top even when the tank is full. hardly serious enough to bring the car in again, i thought.

anyway, i hope the workshop will be able to tell me more abt what happened. i'm interested to see how the tires burst. but to be honest, if it was foul play, i don't think we'll ever find out. end of the day, it could just be that i was carrying too much speed into the corner, but the way the back just swung out and all four corners lost traction is something i've not experienced before.

i dun think nails would cost the tires to burst unless there is a inner tube... ussually the air would just slowly go thru the nails.... was there any trace of oil on the road? surely there is a logical reason for your car to lost traction at a low speed....

It COULD be a combination of a few 'invisible' factors. The contour of the road, surface, strong wind, yaw moment, lateral G force, etc.etc. Sometimes all these things just happen at the wrong combination and throws your car out of control w/o you realising what actually went wrong because it's very hard to detect some of these things.

A long time ago I was driving my Kancil with 1 passenger in front and 3 at the back, so full load. I was approacing this left bend at dunno what speed but it wasn't very fast. I wanted to slow down a little so I tap on the brakes lightly. Suddenly my car just started drifting towards the wall on the right and it touched my side mirror and flipped in shut, it was very scary because all tyres were schreeching and I could see the concrete wall pass by just inches away from the driver's door :( After that lots of tyre smoke and smell of burning rubber. Up till today I don't know what caused that because now that i'm more experience I take that same corner and don't see anything unusual about it. ;)

i dont think someone do those dirty jobs during day time while there are lots of traffic rite?? normally it happen at midnite. <_<

he is a 70 year old man... He said duno wic idiot put some oil on the road. But luckily he escape safely...

hm, not hard taking and cruising around the corner shouldn't cause the car tail to lose it. there must be something else. could be oil or something. hope you can let us know what is the caused actuary. peace bro and sorry to hear about your incident.

:o :o sorry bro 2 hear that. Did u check your AYC lit on or not after the stop?
losing traction on Evo very rare to happen. Tyre pressure?
