And if you think that the RX8 isn't perfect with the rotary then buy one and put in a piston engine, then show me that your piston version is better then the one Mazda produced...
Sold the 8 ask your dad's friend to get a C-class.... n is it an AUTO??MDQ said:thanks for that the exp bro..i dont mind a lil lack of torque cos that can be rectified...
the reason i was looking for another engine because my dads frn got an rx8 and has complained that it was eating up lots of petrol, engine oil and its still
under power...
so u see the engine is a lot of compromise for no gains

But i still think the RX8 was made with the renesis for a reason.
Yah power wise with a sr20dett or a rb26 engine will definitely give more
low end torque , more G, and more bhp.
But with all these power without balance there is no point. The engine was built and place so deeply into the engine bay giving it a 50-50 balance , and they even make the oil pan in such a way that is help balance the car during massive connering.
Another point , the rotory engine is light as compare to your rb or sr engine. And its high rev ( 9k stock 11k if rpm cut removed. ) the engine can be driven on 2nd gear at speed like 150-160km if i not mistaken because i tested the auto version at 7500k it was at 135 - 140kmI think
its better to turbocharged or supercharged it ( give better low end torque ).
Anothere thing mazda won the leman 24 hour race with a 3 rotor rotary engine in 1991. ( the only japanese manufacter that have ever won a leman race ).
just my 2 sense,
BTW why choose sr20dett bro ?

Ive got a q to clarify. I like Rx8 for its looks but dislike its rotary engine. Could I install an SR20DET in to it?
3riple-D said:dude, you must be crazy! If you're really going to swap an engine than my best recommendation is to get a complete rebuilt rotary turbo engine ... a good rebuilt race spec FD engine will do. In USA they have a rx8 drag car running with a 20b 3 rotor turbo engine. Please dun put a piston engine into the rx8, it practicaly will screw everything up and you might end up with something WORST than b4!
And just a small correction;
The Mazda rotary that entered the Le Mans is a 4rotor, not 3 rotor :)
The mazda 4 rotor car was SO-SO fast that NOBODY could even come close to them, not even the V8 vipers. Aparently they are always so far ahead in the race (like 6 - 7 laps ahead) that they had time to stop the car in the pit stop to wash the car so that it will look good when it crosses the finishing line and still win 1st place! I'm serious!! I got this info from one of their ex-pit crew while i was in Australia.
Aparently also that because they kept winning without a fight, every other car makes started complaining and finally the Mazda 4 rotor car was banned from the Le Mans race and the car was placed in a Muzium!
Cosmo engine is a triple rotor engine with auto gearbox....MDQ said:whats a cosmo engine, and how much do u sell a rebuilded engine...
im looking for a fast and reliable street car not track car. so it dont have to be 600hp were its to much for the streets
b00n said:yeah yeah...if rotary engine can fit my car!!.....i would be glad to grab it from U!!
Agreed tat fuel consumption is high, but underpower?!?!.....I dun blib that
No way it's underpower, if you're talking in the sense that it doesn't fulfill your power needs, than the word "underpower" is still acceptable! but if you're to say generally that RX8 is underpower......dun think anyone would agree with u.
Gen2 Auto is underpower, RAV4 auto is underpower....blah blah blah.....but not RX8 (personal thought)
