Recommended petrol for vr4

Whats the recommended petrol for vr4 turbo/evo engines? Are there any different octane rating for different petrols or are all of them rated the same?

best to use a higher octane fuel , malaysian has ron 92 & 97 .

use any type of fuel as long as it don't knock..
if u found it knock, change to higher octane. or maybe retart little of the timing or reduce boost.
my experience petronas have lower octane cos it make my mom's saga 12v knock, then i switch to shell then engine run fine.

Petronas fuel burn much slower..with the same amount of money with Shell, i don go as much as Petronas...donno y...but Shell more power...hahaha :P

thanks, all the while I thought that the fuel ratings are the same. No wonder last time there was knocking even at low boost and had to retard the ignition timing. Now that I've changed to ron 97 the engine seems more responsive & perhaps I can advance the ignition timing a bit more. Currently using Shell green.

how to know the engine is knocking on VR4's......use a wood and put to rockers cover while put ears at the wood????

it is very obvious, you can hear the knocking sound easily. It does not sound like knocking the door type of knock, to me it sounds a bit like the way crickets sound.
