Just wondering as my friend have got some spares lying around from an RB25dett and wouldn't mind handing it over.. What parts can be used in an RB20det from an RB26dett?? i recently was told that i could use the cams and waterpump... not sure though.. need some info.. anyone RB20det sifu???:D

errr

cams? can use aaa?? dunno la... rb26 solid lifter setting... rb20 still hydraulic....

some stuffs like injectors and intake manifold, can use.. waterpump... oil pump... ermm.. not too sure about that.... better let some sifus explain what can and cannot be use... hehehehe wait for zephuros to response to this... or a31gtst....

olskool,
Why bother to change the engine parts only la?, the whole RB26DETT can be used
what.... hehehehe..

To fit RB26parts to RB20:

1. Waterpump can be fitted provided it is not the N1 waterpump (one of the holes for the water pump is oval compared to all of them being round on the RB20 waterpump). Fitting wise there is no problem, but when put on a RB20 block, it WILL leak!

2. Oil pump should be able to bolt straight up. Am not sure bout the keyway on the crank and whether or not the size is the same. Else should be ok.

earlier RB26 cams are used as upgrades on RB20

How sure is this?, anyone done this before?, what else needs to get done to make the RB26 cams work on an RB20?, what are the gains?.

Use the bottom end. You can upgrade your RB20det to a RB24det... kick ass!

Basically major parts like the crank, etc are taken from the 26 and used in the 20. If you just want to salvage internals dont forget the work of opening and replacing between engines is going to cost you a fair bit. Might as well take the oppurtunity to bore it up to a 24. You can ask Ah Wai (80759908) at Onward Motor Sports on further details and advise. He recently did a rebuild for a 24 if i'm not mistaken

Cheers

Emmmm 2.4 with RB26 crank ?
emmm

For the 2.4 basically you can use the 26 rods and crank, then you need to bore the block and put in 82mm pistons. There is also a 2.3 version which uses rb25 internals.

Waa... sounds so straight forward. I also want !!.

Aiyoh.... GT-R crank alone can't get you 2.4....

RB20 ->78x69.7=1998cc
RB25 ->86x71.7=2498cc
RB26 ->86x73.7=2568cc

26 crank on a 20 will get you:
78x73.7=2113cc

No chance is hell you're going to get 2.4 from the standard bore man!
Besides, there IS an RB24S around... on the Laurel Altima which is 86x69.7!

An RB20 rebuild for an extra 113cc? If you ask me i think it's not worth the time. If you can afford to bore out the sucka to 82mm in the process, then think about it. Else, leave the 26 head at home... use it as a paperweight!

thats what i meant. use the crank and rods, but this only changes the stroke and not the bore...u need to bore it up to 82mm to get it to 2.4.... Theres nothing easy or straight forward in converting to RB23 or RB24...

You need to have the time, parts and budget... If you plan to go the RB24 way then also consider the main bearings. The RB24 i saw had ordered them from Australia. I dont have the time but when I do i'll post up the link with documentation on the conversion.

All the best in ur project...if tak jadi...heheh sell me the parts ler!:)

IMHO, an RB24 is a waste of time.. unless u got the parts for really cheap, you're prolly better off just dropping in an RB25

ok guys...relax...mou tar mou tar!! hehe...thanks alot for the input.. doing the 2.4 sounds good but it's too pricy. i've seen that meggala site before...useful info there. i was told that i'd have to bore the block to 86mm to fit the conrod and pistons for the 26 and that would be really expensive...thanks once again for the info...

uncle!! if i put in an RB26dett i'll die with fuel laaa...hehe

a31gtst....sorry...got somebody:D who wants the parts oredy coz i don't think i'll be doing it...;)

RB23 or RB24 conversion is useless ?

wait when you see
the RB25DET owner saw they car been makan like sayur by
RB20DET block is priceless

Problem is not bearing
We prefer new and NISSAN OEM than reused bearing and other unknown brand
That why they willing to wait

Second thing... RM400 road tax vs RM800 is also a issue
you know nissan owner is pokai and kiam siap one rite

Agreed... too much work and $$$. MMR piston kit alone would cost you around JPY155,000. So not much point.... besides, you'll need bigger injectors for the 24 as well.

hahah...yea man, road tax die standing!
well another choice is to sell of the 26 for good price...then look for a complete 23 or 24 halfcut hidden in disguise as a rb20 kekekek...i know got a few lying around just waiting to be plugged in!

Saves the hassle and cost of boring the block.... just get the plug n play!

a31gtst,
If you know of a RB20det that has uprated internals "waiting to be plugged-in", can
share-share info ar?, where can I go look at it?.
