MORNING MISHAP: Policemen directing traffic at the site where Chan (inset) was killed in Falim, Menglembu, yesterday morning. Chan’s body lies under a black plastic bag in the background.

IPOH: A 59-year-old man was killed in an accident involving a police patrol car while he was crossing an unlit road at Falim, near here, yesterday.

The incident allegedly happened while Chan Kam Weng, from Buntong, was on his way home with his favourite dim sum at about 6.20am.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Jalaludin Ibrahim said the policeman driving the car, who began duty at 6am, had claimed it was dark and he could not see the pedestrian crossing the road. ACP Jalaludin said the case was still being investigated. Chan’s body has since been sent to the Ipoh Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

my dad is 59 this year..
it just makes me worry bout my parents..
tiba tiba..
okay the road is dark, but you could turn on your headlights.
and tat's a policeman we're talking about..
aint he suppose to be more alert?
i dunno the how the whole thing happen, and i dont wanna jump to conclusion..
but i dont think you could knock some one so hard it kills him if you're goin slow.. and if u cant see the road, why would u go fast?

hmmm....first of all, condolences to chan's family for teh unfortune event.

secondly, kudos to the police for knocking uncle chan down. we will hear many of excuses from OCPD to supernintendo bla bla.

thirdyly, don;t blame the lights

fourth , probably uncle didn;t see car coming cos no headlights?

fifth , don't argue la..we just listen

sixth - shoot me

Condelences to the family.

Is the police patrol car was speeding? chasing someone? .. i suppose they're very slow driving patrolling the town about 40km to 50kmh?. But who knows, not many police car drivers are alert.

Since the old man's body thrown such far away from the patrol car is halting.

let's all not jump to conclusion....
police are also human which is also prompt to mistake and tiredness...
it's just a case of negligence from both party I guessed.
I guessed no one wants it to happen too...

*sigh*
Condolence to the family.

most likely the police car was speeding, check out the windscreen man.

Ya the its all due to carelessness,my condolence to Tan family. Hope the investigation can be completed soon.

May Uncle Tan rest in peace. :(

Let's not jump to conclusions. We don't know exactly how it happened. It could have been anybody and this time it happened to be a police patrol car. It could have been your car. The deceased probably had a part to blame as well, who knows. I don't think there is a point in wildly accusing anyone right now.

Condolences to the family.

it looks to me like the police patrol car was speeding at that time...........look at the impact and the distance where the body is.

just becos he's a policeman doesnt mean he's immune to mistake ler....liddat i oso wanna be policeman...then turned into ultraman liao...

nowadays they're in the lime light; thus the big fuss....
same like if a rempit is being brought down in an accident; first assumption is that it's his fault...blah blah blah........

devious17; put anuther quote on your signature to educate ppl.......

"Assumptions doesn't necessary equals the truth"...

kekekeke
"tumpang" ur siggie to educate us.....kekekekeke

I have seen countless police cars driven hazardly, dangereously, you name it. It gets more worse if they are acompanying VIP. I just wish i had videocam to prove it. But then again i might be hauled up by the police for trying to discredit them. So i'm in a quandry. Nevertheless, i do hope the police force practice better road manners than being mat rempit themselves!

judging from the impact of the patrol car and the victim.... that patrol car damn 9 9 fast thou.. :)

Couldn't agree more. They drive recklessly fast, or recklessly slow.

Hogging the fast lane or some street is also a nuisance. To me that is.

condolence to the family...

yeah..
dont jump into conclusion...

now is police knock down a senior citizen...
then they say its under investigation...
where's the police who is driving??
he might be relaxing at home...

turn the case around...
if a normal person like u n me...
knock down a policeman n give the same excuse...
where will we be??
u masuk lock-up n kene whack like nobody business wearing ur birthday suit la...

well...
i might be wrong....
but i never hav good impression on these patrol cars...
just waste petrol oni....

condolence to the family...

as mentioned, the incident happened at 6 something in de morning, where no sun light yet, then, they shud b turning their headlights on.

& from the distance between the body & the police car, u can imagine that the policecar was running in higher speed. but, y do u need to run so fast when u're patroling?

lets wait for the result/answer from their 'own' force... it might b some 'unquestionable' answer...

The cops was speeding... look at the windscreen. A simple bump wouldn't have cause that.

I guess, they will cover up the case eventually.

speechless.......

wonder how the feeling of the family members....

just an accident...and because it is involved policeman...tat y attract more attention

i hv seen alot of this kind ofaccidents before....just a normal accident involving a car and a roadcrosser

BTW, condolence to the uncle..may him rest in peace

my question is ' where is the police driver now?'
Lock up or .................?
