Time to save up some cash guys! Check out the new hachiroku! :adore:

The new article goes into some detail of the new car's spec. Under 4m long and 1.7m wide, it's pretty low at 1.35m tall, and engineers have been directed to keep weight below 1,000kgs. Power will come from a 1.5L 2NZ-FE good for 120 horsepower. What has been unknown until this time is where Toyota would source a cheap RWD drivetrain, but Best Car has learned that it will come from new partner Fuji Heavy Industries - better known to you and me as Subaru.

And the best news of all? The committee's final directive is to keep the new car's sticker price below 1.5million Yen. That's about $12,300 USD (or RM44K) in today's money.

I think it will be dubbed as Levin/Trueno in Asian region and expect a "GT Apex" version with high-revving 2ZZ-GE powerplant.

i've read this topic.. forgot in zth or another.. all people seem excited. at last the truth revealed..one guy said its only super-imposed picture.. based on nissan 350z..and toyota celica.. at that time all people suddenly noticed its only rumor.. and i think so...

Bro. pls charify to us can? many of us very interested and rumours says its not real. And i don't think its RM60k because, is you guys can get at RM60k, then what will be the price in Labuan and Langkawi? In Labuan, Vios RM52k now, how about other places?

Yeap agree, just dont think its under RM60k. Sry bro. pcmoddingmy :) maybe vitrous is right, 132k in malaysia keke

Guys, the price is just my estimation... but it could go over RM100k, depends on the govt tax la. Anyways, some ppl say this is hoax while others say it could be true. Heck, ppl even said the GT-R Proto was photochop! So, this is the usual "hoo-haa".

Wait till Toyota unveils it in some motor show or someone takes a spy picture of it. Price wise, Toyota is really aiming the entry market for RWD sports compact car. Remember that it is only 1.5cc, so it shouldn't be expensive. Maybe, the 2ZZGE version will be over RM100k or around the Celica/MRS region.

okie..this is my point of view~

it's 1.5 cc FR compact car~
my assumption is that, it would be just around 60K-75K
it's more of like VIOS but the boy version.

Proton selling his Persona at 45k-55k..everything else from other brands has to go down at least 5-10K(toyota vios and honda city)

this is based on my understanding on today car market~

Here's some latest pic & info on the upcoming AE86 aka Toyota Lightweight Sports Car:

The new Toyota Lightweight Sports Car will actually be based on a shortened Impreza 15S platform which is better suited to a smaller 1.5 - 2.0L (flat-four) engine and has ‘rear wheel drive friendly’ double wishbone rear suspension. The test mule is in very early stages with the car running the aforementioned 2.0L SOHC engine and a 4WD driveline (without front drive shafts) so it isn’t undergoing any serious performance driving tests at this point in time.

The EL15 only puts out 110ps @ 6,400rpm and 14.7kg/m @ 3,200rpm so Toyota is doing its best to lighten the chassis and body as much as possible in order to give the car a reasonable amount of performance. Just how much weight can be shed? Toyota is aiming for 1100kg and no more...

hi guys,

after all the hachi has been so successful.... i don't think the maker close their eyes on it... and with dorifto is already a cult... its right to produce a entry level sport car....my 2 cents

cheers...
