hello al sifu`s here..
i want to ask u all about the best absorber to use at our BG, n also not forget the cost involve.. second or new... thans alot..

I"m no sifu, but i can share my exp with you. Don't ever use APM adjustables !!!
what are you looking for ? Pek koner or jst city driving ?

Pek koner : use ori abs (kayaba gas) and change spring to GAB/Tein/Kimex
- These springs are really hard and suitable for wacking all those corners, BUT you'll have lotsa uncomfortable rides in your daily drive
City driving : Ori abs (kayaba gas) with Eibach springs. A very good set-up if you want comfort all the way and a little spirited driving on the highway. Good control of the road and the springs are not hard until you can feel the jarring on ur spine. Alternatively, go for Koni abs and Eibach springs. Another very good set-up. Unfortunately, Koni's in Malaysia has got no warranty. Happened to me, my front abs (right side only) leaked after only 1 month !!

Conclusion, always stick back to ori abs (new kayaba's), that way you get less headache when there's trouble

Good luck !

thanx alot bro,
mostly i like to 'layan' koner.. a bit hard no prob for me..
the spring easy to find ah? normal spareparts shop got or not?
hmm.. other ideas? anyone?

tony?.....your koni no warranty??...where did u get it?

mine got 6 months warranty; till now still okie....almost 6 months d....
thinking of sending for servicing before the warranty expires.

but my experience.......no GAB sports abs for me.
In 6 months time(warranty period), I sent my front abs passenger side twice to claim. Also all 4 went abs went faulty...luckyly before the warranty expires.
But than again, some ppl has no problem. It could be because of luck.
Another thing, when using GAB, my passenger side wheel always hit my wheel arch; but after using Koni which is lowered around the same height, I no longer got that problem.
Both are paired with KW spring.

Boon,

U got ur Koni's from HOkomoto right ? Nowadays got warranty already coz hokomoto got Koni's official distributor listing. I bought mine like 4 years ago from a place in PJ (don wan mention name ) & at that time all koni's were brought into Malaysia via Sgp, & Sgp distributor won't give warranty....somemore mine only the right front koyak !! the rest all working condition !!

Joemiad,
I"m actually jst suggesting u chg the springs...to a brand like GAB, Kimex, Tein...coz these springs are pretty hard and therefore u can "layan" the corner abit. make no mistakes about it bro, but if you have the budget....go for fully adjustables if you're the racing type.
as for me, i work on an extremely limited budget, and i would say that of all the abs i've tried...kayaba gas ori is still the best of the lot...with factory warranty and is easily avai and cheap.
i once got a quote from RS motorsports on my car's GAB springs (Tx3) and it was around the RM600 range..brand new. u could get cheaper ones, i think last time i found one by the name of SARB (instead of Sard) imitation stuff...and it was only RM300. Eibach for TX3 (if still avai) is around the RM1000 range. huge price diff, but u won't go wrong with them...comfort and stability guaranteed !

By the way, jst for sharing...now that i have absolutely NO budget for modding cars...i'm riding on KAyaba gas ori ( now for 2 1/2 year liau) and cut ori springs !!
everything still good, but i must add that i really take care of them, really avoid all types of un-even roads and definitely NO going through pot holes !!
got ppl say the abs won't tahan when the springs are cut, but mine already last for 2 1/2 years, so the myth is busted !
however, one major disadvantage with using cut springs (and the most dangerous) is braking. the front always always tips down way too low when hard braking and hence can feel a little fish tail behind. very dangerous....and to counter that, i jst drive slowly slowly lor... hehehehehhe

hehehe.. ok ok.. thanx alot bro.. im also on tight budget.. for now im just surveying first the alternative that i can take..

kenken,

u using that izit ? when u say not bad meaning hard o soft type (soft like Eibach) ?

yeah, kayaba is still the best original abs around. if can find tokiko also good. but tokiko is stiffer than kayaba. but i dont like kimex. to me too soft. my advice, get a good spring even if you're on normal abs. u wouldn regret it.

Hey Boon,

sidetrack abit, any problems with ur HLAs ?? the tapping noise..

yes yes..im using kayaba abs with hotbits springs...front hard enough la but rear can feel a bit buang during corner..

hotbits is good because its hard..soft makes ur car go too low not good la..

mine is soft hard. tuned towards softer side. no sound. but back little bit wavy.

Kayaba is OEM for my ride..Ford TX3. i assume it also applies to BG
correct me if i'm wrong

rear wavy can do some slight -ve cambering. i did mine very subtlely so when pek koner won't buang, but won't makan tire when on straigth as well

erm..i tried d..i set my camber to 1.3 degrees but still can buang a bit...i think strut bar can help a bit.

i just got myself a pair of new kyb abs (japan ori) its superb....balanced between hard n soft...completely satisfy!!

kenken,
ur a speed demon !

my rear no strut bar also...but so far quite ok, of course not so confident, but i'll attribute that to chop springs and worn tyres

no la..not speed demon...just like to play corner corner a bit..hehe..better dont chop your springs...spring rate will lari one...
