Hey guys,

Need some advice from the general public on this issue. I'm looking at a DC2 Type R convert at the price of 64K. The tyres are a little worn out, and needs a paint job as well. Is that price ok.
How much would a normal DC2 cost out there. As far as I've checked, the price ranges from 50K to 70K.
Can someone pls advise me whether its a good buy or not

depends on da condition of da car.wat year is da car?wat r da other mods done?r u da 2nd owner?

Hmm.. depends how much you're willing to spend on repairs...

Check for rubber seals, those are costs you do not want to incur after spending 64K. Engine also might needs work, depending on the owner being someone who maintains his car, or just drives it to the max, then sell it off.

check the carpeting for uneveness...(feel around if you need to) those are signs that he did some work underneath the chassis, either wiring or etc. sometimes patching/etc.. (of course, if you're not familiar, get someone who owns/has bought a DC2 so he can compare with his unit)

One thing about buying modded cars is that you don't know what you're getting... you either get a nice car (the owner cares about his car very much) or you get a car that needs a lot of work (The owner drives it like mad, and sells it off before incurring any needed repair costs.)

2nd owner sometimes means jack, as I've proven with the purchase of my EG..

I changed almost every single part on that damn car (when it was in stock form) except for the chassis, body panels, windows, doors. (ahem.. even the doors were replaced.. at least.. the front two.)

Technically I'll be the 5th owner of the car. Its a 94/97 car, was converted to Type R in 98 after the first engine blew up.
From far, the car looks like a beauty, but up close, the paints a bit rusty around the edges and the tyres would be the first thing to change.
As for the repairs, I'll be quite poor after buying the car, so i want to minimise the cost of fixing it. The engine just had an overhaul in Dec 05 and the timing belt was changed a month ago, polished the ports as well at that time.

As for the modded part, its lowered (to JPJ approval), flywheels (toda I think), LSD 4.75 gearbox, blitz auto timer, Tein Adjustables, Mugen exhaust....cant think of what else. The current owner will speed with the car once in a while.

But once i get it, I'll have to spend money to change the tyres, get a new paint on, maybe change the battery, not sure what else I've to spend on.

Also, since this car is quite old/matured, would driving it everyday (normal driving) be ok? Ppl have told me that it should only be a weekend car.

a wise advise for u....don't buy that car.....every part of the car seems to have koyak before......and 5th owner? how do u expect to sell the car out next time.....

i'm not gonna mention which part u need to replace....because there is probably many other hidden quirks about the car that juz by test driving it once u can't tell.....believe me it won't be just the paint and tyres.......and i assure you it will not be cheap changing parts for an integra.....not to mention if u want to change type - r parts.

and another thing is.....i saw another integra convert type-r on last week's motor trader as well......with black vented bonnet and black spoiler ....opening 66k only.... i suggest u check that one out because i took a look at the car when it was being overhauled in amoil last few weeks.......condition is much much better than the one u mentioned.....

well good luck in your purchase......plz plz plz bring an experienced honda player to check out the cars with you........don't make the same mistake that alot of ppl made.......AND also......on the day of trade bring a foreman along with u and ask him to check one last time before u hand over the money......coz some mother fuckers will either take ur car to track or go trash like nobody's business before they sell the car to you.....also check wether any parts were taken out or not!
ALOT of mother fucking scammers out there....well i feel so strongly bout it coz i kena before.

GOOD LUCK!

You have to know the history of the car to buy a used car.

Since you're stretching your budget, one word of advice.. you will NEED to have A BUDGET to REPAIR the vehicle!

There won't be a second hand car that you can bring home and drive for a year without suffering one problem or the other.

The repairs will come.. either sooner or later, since it's a 'used' car after all.

Just hope that you aren't streching your budget too thin...

For me, although I could buy an integra R by plonking down 20K++ in downpayment, I didn't do so because of repair costs, so I budgeted for an EG instead.

Think before you buy!

most important thing to check....the chasis...

any replaced parts? wheelhouse? firewall? undercarriage? kereta sambung? rusty spare tyre compartment?

exteriors are not so important if compared to the chasis n body.
get a mechanic that's good with honda to go check out the car with u if u dunno how to check.....

FYI, there r lots of ppl out there driving their EF as a daily driven car....n u r talking about a DC ? haha.....dun worry, it's HONDA man!

Hi there...to me the price seems a tad high...a normal DC2 is abt 50+k...can come to the Integra headcounts thread and post your dilema there...I just me a guy who paid about 55k for his converted b18cR and I know that car..it was a frens...

Another one which is also frens car was sold abt 50+k too....b8cR converted with lots of stuff....so 74k is quite high I would say...unless, unless the car is really immaculate....but from what u mentioned it doesn't really sound like it

If you have a Honda mech....ask the owner to let your mech test drive and look at the engine...any leaks or like what others have mentioned, welding spots...

Buying a used car is always a gamble and there is quite definite that you will need to spend money to change stuff....so you have to be prepared.

Unless you buying a car you know well and the owner takes good care of the car...

However bro don't be too demotivated to get the Integra due to all the advise you read here...Coz the car is great....

wow.....thanks guys for the advice. from the looks of it, everyone seems to agree that is rather expensive for me to buy it at 64K. I guess after fixing it as well, it'll cost me almost 80k.
i did call up the guy who put his DC2 on motor trader, but he had already sold it to someone when i called yesterday. his parts were all new.

Don't believe what the owner says.. sometime they're planning to offload a troublesome ride.

Anyway, if you're insisting on second hand car, always budget for repairs.. less headache in the long run.

You can buy fibre inserts, cut your bonnet, stick it on.. and spray it.. I think this is really popular with the wiralution/wajalution crowd..

Me... anything that involves having holes on top = more cleaning!

94/97 DC2...converted to ITR n w JUST those parts @ RM64K?need repair sum more?n u actually DID consider abt it?man...u gotta b kidding me?ur really THAT desperate 2 own a DC2 meh?man....i've been der..nearly bought a DC2"R"...lucky i was patient enuff n manage 2 dig out d car's history...turn out its not an ITR....i ended up w an EF instead..but no regrets coz i can off most Integras w my puny Si.....
but seriously,FORGET abt THAT DC2...if d seller is reading dis..sorry yah?

well got more research on the car;

Toda Flywheel
Crower Stage 3
Manual LSD 4.785
17" wheels (this needs to be changed)
E- manage
Tein Adjustables
Mugen system
Halogen lights
Recaro seats
Alpine sound system
Fully overhauled in Nov 05

Guys, after all this parts, is the price still ok? Not that I'm that desperate to get a DC2 right now, but the seller is saying that its in tip top condition and nothing has to be done to the engine.
I'm open to suggestions right now.

Looks like someone is desperate to own a DC2R! (^_^)

Parts are good.. but if the body already half kantoi... you still want ah?

dont listen to wat the owner says......find an experienced and honest foreman to check it....u wouldnt know how to tell if there are stage 3 cams or toda flywheel or mugen lsd or tein adjustables anyway if u r new........

and if the foreman say the stuff are there and its healthy......then this car still can consider....coz its power packed!!!!

I have to admit that I'm pretty new in this arena and have been doing extensive research lately. As for being desperate.......maybe little bit la, cos its a Beauty la this car.

Will be going to mechanic tomorrow to check the parts, but if you guys say its power packed, I'll take ur word for it, cos have driven the car before and its super fast. right now trying to negotiate price as the asking price is rather high. Assuming these parts are healthy, how much would you all pay for it. Cos this car is supposedly better than the one in Motor Trader (that is only stage 1 cams)

Do you all have any reliable foreman/mechanic to check out the car. I have my own mechanic but he's more use to doing up local cars and doesnt know much about mod cars.

Bro even a mech will be difficult for him to verify all these coz its inside the engine...just by driving it you can only guess lor....when buying a car the parts that is loaded will not carry much value unless the buyer is really willing to pay for all those parts and really love the car.....

To be honest what is above are fairly normal parts...a bit better than a stock ....

Probably the good stuff i would say is the Crower cams and maybe the LSD. the rest is what you should get with a converted integra....

Anyway you are right to say the car is a beauty but better you check it out first ...most important is you have to be satisfied with what you are going to get with what you paid for...

Last time when I got my car also lots had to be done lor....but like everyone here said sure need to do one lor....

The problem of getting a converted car, especially engine, is that you don't know the history of it coz you ain't there at the begining so basically you are not aware of any hidden propblem if there is any.
