well...i'm kinda new here. just wondering how u guys modify on your 4A-GE 20v na. and what make u think blacktop or silvertop better? if using aftermarket parts or OE, what u think should change it to make it more powerful.
 
First of all, please let us know ur budget, if budget is unlimited, then we can recommend alot of stuff that will actually raise your 4AGE 20V engine peformance to be on par with B18C Type R or even beat it
 
Using OE part?

Here is what you can do.
Strip down the whole engine, Change all new bearing and necessary wear and tear part.
Balance the crankshaft, rod, piston, flywheel.
Port and polish engine head.
(Blueprint the whole engine)

By doing above, you'll have very light and responsive engine but total HP won't increase much. Anyway you'll have basic strong platform (good durability)for other mod that can increase the torque and HP.

Bear in mind beside high HP you also have to make sure that your engine have enough torque and responsive if you plan to whack in the track.

If you can afford a Stanalone Engine Management System, please go ahead, you'll able to maximize the power output for the strong platform that you have. (Assume you've done above mentioned process)

That is only initial part, you can go further with after market products.

just stand by at least 30-40k then can already la .. hahahahaha ...

5k ecu ...
5k cams+cam pulley+valve springs ...
5k piston+conrod ...
3k race bearings and full overhaul ...
3k blacktop/silvertop halfcut
3k final drive for 5 speed manual 4.733
3k cusco/trd etc etc LSD
2k extractor + exhaust japan mari
1k oil cooler (aftermarket) + pipe + adaptor + fittings
3k japan mari coilovers or custom made titan/hwl/etc etc
3k trd anti roll bar + full PU bushing
1k for aftermarket strut braces and lower arm braces

This should get you about 180-190hp ATW with 9k-10k rpm engine with a good handling car.... confirm can fly already .. hahahahaha ... most prices quoted new .. if can find 2nd hand for all the items maybe still have to come out about 60-70% of the cost above

First thing first - make sure you have at LEAST RM40,000 in hand to start modding your 4A-GE okes? No money? well can always dream about it, no harm too.

Silvertop or Blacktop - BOTH are good. Silvertop is good because it is farking cheap and easy to get, and quite raw too for crazy mods. Blacktop is much more refined and you get to spend less on modding for lightening and balancing.

So where do we start? ah yes on the engine itself - so what sort of powerband do you desire - duh forget about this, All out NA motor will only perform after 5000RPM and above hahahahhaaha.

Alo datuk EFN,
You'll scare away those newbie you just watch Initial D and plan to mod 4AGE 20V engine weiiiii.

Even you have done all above step that mentioned by datuk EFN, there is not guarantee that you can get 200WHP.

No need to do 3 angle valve job. Just buy aftermarket oversize valves with valve angle done, and come with 1mm intake oversize and 1.5 mm exhaust oversize, cost about 1.2K. Remember to get the retainer kit as well. Concentrate in the head. It is the most important part when it comes to power.

Mahle pistons and carillo Rods cost at least 3k each damm expensive. I have enquire from them before. Dont really need it.

I think 20-25k should do all the stuff. Doesnt really need everything to be branded stuff.


Get any Australian, British, and American programable ecu will. Wont cost up to 10k including installation and tunning.
 
hahaha coz a lots huh~.... i'm using FF car for drag...let's see what u guys can suggest..... see my OE version...cheap cheap one....
 
Cheap Solution brings cheap results - that's another fact, experienced NA runners know this by heart. At the most we are talking about 140HP on the front wheels and a pathetic sub 16s or high 15s Quartermile time - No offense. But then again Power is NOT everything.

cheap solution that make result more then factory...why not? not everyone affort to buy those branded parts mah...
 
GT20v.... that's what i call modifying. not just buy branded parts to fit in...everyone know to to that. i never buy 4age20v halfcut, i buy engine only then put on other staff. if mechanic who know the engine well...sure same resullt will come out. not becoz of the wiring had been cut....then u will lost some power...that's what i learn since i boost car...

Look like you're the big SIFU trying to test all the students here.
What I can say is different tuner have different formula and they may not agree some part of the formula that share by other tuner or mechanic.
You may be have found out the undiscover formula and hope you can share the formula.
I know many EAST Malaysia tuner that have rojak engine that can boost up quite high HP.
One of my friend over there just get 20V AFM engine kosong and mod the wiring from 4AGZE and use back the AFM ECU without getting the whole half cut, and it work. (Work but don't know the actual HP and torque that he getting)

As long as you satisfied, it's ok.
and it's depend on what purpose is this engine built for as well.
