dyno at dreamcars motorshow..

the dyno was brought in by Dyno Dynamic (Aust) and initially there was promises with this dyno shootout event on Dreamcar but somehow i bet the organiser didnt do their homework much. Management in KL Convention CEnter doesnt allow it to be held inside so initially while the dyno machine is being flew halfway in the plane to Msia, the organiser told them to forget about the idea of bringing it in. Lotsa conflicts went on and to cut it short, the dyno machine was brought in but it was held elsewhere from the exhibition hall.

Kopi, glad you've achieve 60++hp at the wheel on Dyno Dynamic machine. It's one of the lowest hp rating machine in the industries. I sent my kancil turbo for tuning last time in DMT (using Dyno Dynamics when DMT still around) and only achieve 86.4hp at the wheel. Was kind of dissappoint with that figure but somehow was convinced by a friend of mine that Dyno Dynamic got a low reading as compared to other dyno machine. So off i went to GT Auto to try their Dynojet dyno machine. Boom and got a lovely 99.7hp at the wheel (with the same setup)

I guess sometime we cant treat dyno machine as a benchmark of performance. I'd say, treat it as a tool to tune would be much better..

I also have similar experience as equinox, when I dynoed my car at DMT, I got 62.4hp, a few month later, when I do some mod and dyno at N1, I got 63hp. I guess Dyno Dynamics (as DMT used) is one of the lowest, Dynojet (used in N1) is middle number, Speedworks (using DTS) is one of the highest. U can say the differences can be upto 15% from dyno to dyno. Wanna get high hp number? Go to GT Auto or Speedworks ;)

Due to such differences, if u're going to dyno more than 1 time, it's highly advised to always do it at the same workshop.

I also agree that Dyno Dynamics Dyno machine gives out a lower reading. So that is why it is advisable to stick with one type of dyno machine so that u can see the difference when adding new mods to your car.

ramsink> ya i oso saw you on the dyno! your body can churn out 300whp at 7,700RPM eh? coooool!

Geng, but prices for dyno outside is not cheap! What's the average for say just to check power and maybe diagnose some bugs in yr system..? Say an hour's run?
