Hi,

I am using a stock toyota corolla AE111 1996. When travelling, the car is very bumpy (compared to wira and iswara). The tyre pressure and suspension is fine. I asked a mech, and he said I should change my rims for a less bumpy ride. Currently, the rims are steel rims and they are heavy.

How would changing it to lighter alloy rims help the bumpiness?

i drove wira and now currently driving ae111 as well, and it was not bumpy at all..

bumpy? is it like horse riding at high speeds or wot? cos spring can give you the bouncy feeling too....

think your spring have been cutted.... if the front is lowered... less than 3 fingers gap.... maybe spring have been cutted... not safe....

What suspension are you running ? Is your ride bumpy or BOUNCY ?? the stock ae111 suspension is very soft and gives that floaty/bouncy feeling on highways especially on high speed ...

i think most likely he is complaining bouncy instead if bumpy. yeah, ori AE111 spring was very soft

yea, maybe it is more to bouncy than bumpy. The springs are stock original. I'll check whether the clearance is still 3 fingers...

Change the springs? hhhmmm...any simplier method like changing the rims?

ello...

i'm also using ae111 year 96..change the absorber from KAYABA GAS to GAB SPORT WITZ SPORT SPRING..FRONT WHEEL got 2 finger gap and REAR WHEEL ALMOST 3 1/2 finger gap. after using one week, my car also got bumpy...what should i do...cut the spring (baru beli loorrrrr) or....

yesterday my car hit the garage post...and kemek the body...lucky front lamp not damage....what the day!!!!!

Wahahah bro, what makes u think changing rims will help and solve ur problem? how come u will think change rim can help? i really dun understand as the role or rims. spring and absorber is totally diff.

change rim can easily cost u more thn rm1k and above w/tyres and that is 15" onwards (i assume u're ori is 14" same as mine). Changing spring only would set u around rm1k (eibach?) and absorber is around the same region too,

With soft suspension setup, bigger rims is not going to help much. so do some "homework" i suggest. seems like u need to study more on each items role before making any decision. to me, i would go for absorber thn only spring

Im not sure but i think Gas filled absorber always more stiffer thn oil filled absorber? sifu pls correct me if im wrong.

but this im very very sure. NEVER EVER CUT YOUR DAMN SPRING. not only u will spoilt the total rigidity of the spring built but also total messup the whole bouncing rate. i guess your problem could be lies on the spring itself.

well plp always wanted as steady as rock handling setup but they also always tend to forget thier ride could be same as hard as rock. compromise is always the key

never cut your springs... you'll just worsen your situation.. if you have the money, change the whole suspension set.... :)

thankz...for advise...i will not cut the spring...baru pakai loo...satu minggu...mau tukar tarak duit oooo....

checked absorber, no problem worr

does it suit my AE111?

**Yes it will

only front or front n rear spring?
**Full set, complete...if u confirmed.... just help with my "duit minyak"

how long hav been used?

**Halfcut.... he bought it at RM400

condition n reason to sell?
** Not rusty, just chipped paint

**But really and sincerely i dunno how it feels.... the rear ride feeling is nice but i will check whether the front feeling is good or not....

**Why? because some spring... like Apexi is too firm that will rub your fender "banana" when you hit an uneven road condition...

**Will check the feeling.... will recommend, if it is good...

hi just wanna ask
if change absorber will it solve the problems mention by u guys
like the bumpy and bouncy?

yalor..prefer using sport spring and gas shcok absober.u can buy brand new from any sport performance shop or if u wan using branded stuff, cna find it out from chop chop shop.but make sure u check it first b4 pay any cent(check for any leak or damage of shock)yalor..of coz,u feel bumpy when runni in high speed with ur cut spring...feel it b4 when i cut my ori spring.that why,now i using all new brand tein stuff.good in corner, high speed and good in brakin also.not bad!!!:X-:

i would to say change abs thn only spring. to me, absorber is the one absord the shockness and spring control.
