Boost meter goes up but no boost

hard to say also la coz I don't have any advanced engine management, me upgrading with the old school method.

btw do u know how much hp can exedy organic clutch take? I'm using it together with gsr gearbox (locked to 2 wheel).
 
I think the exeddy organic can take up to 200hp only. Starts to slip at high rpm with anything above that. My car, mech ask to use underwear type ~ 3 puck! <_< ....
 
ok... results time, did dyno already at GT Auto :) but first, can u make a guess what is the result?

Take into account :-
1. Currentlyunfortunately my intercooler piping has a hole (stupid exhaust shop forgot to weld it!)
2. evo 3 turbine boosting at 1 bar
3. mitsubitshi metal gasket (can't remember what is the thickness)
4. safc
5. 510cc injectors
6. Evo 3 Airflow Sensor

1. Guess, what is the current result with the intercooler leak?
2. What is the result after the leak is fixed (this one I can only let u know once I re-do the dyno).

* as a guide the previous dyno at DMT was 178whp at 0.8 bar (if I remember correctly) with standard vr4 turbine without intercooler leak.

* Btw Jack whats your dyno result ? Just wanna find out if mine is under-performing & u are using almost the same specs.

yeah, good one danny... see the differences of a big 16G! but with hole also 236hp!! Power of VR4 :o

Mine was 222hp @ 1bar and with a slipping OEM clutch... Toby reckon that i can go higher with a semi/race clutch.. no $$ to do it now :(

Notice the smoother AF curve how did you tune it since no management? I remembered u had a SAFC rite, 16hp gain with dyno!! fooooyoohhhh
 
Toby only noticed the hole after the dyno... when I checked, I said wah quite big hole, and he corrected...not quite big, but damn bloody big or something to the effect..keke luckily nothing bad happened also.

Today fixed the hole already, the response feels much better (reach full boost faster) and there is a noticable power increase (wheelspin 2nd and 3rd gear on Goodyear F1 tyres), but feel kinda like wasting money going 2 dynos in 2 days. I just re-adjusted the safc myself to account for the extra air flow. Maybe next time when I change my exhaust from S-flow to straight flow I'll go check again.

yea jack I am only using safc, what I meant was I don't have those advanced ecu management ie koteks (Mircortech, Haltech, Motec etc etc). Not bad eh Jack 222hp with clutch slipping, should be very similar la, only less by 200cc. What clutch r u using? Toby said that the exedy organic clutch is capable till 280whp already... unless u're aiming for 300-400hp? :ph34r:
 
Dei .. u still on s-flow ar? No wonder so quiet ler your car. Anyway, changing to straight will gain you further hp. Great man!!

Aiya, Toby laughing a me ler, didnt even wanna touch my car after the clutch start to slip at 1bar.. no point tuning, but thats after about 15 runs. Me still on OEM Mitsu F5M22 GB. Anyway, transmission project is on the way. Yes, something that can hold 280hp! stock with LSD :rolleyes:

U siow ah??!! 300 to 400 will need some forgies man, for my 1.8. Glad u fixed your lubang :lol: :lol:
 
ok la after 15 runs money well spent, mine less than 5 runs coz he said it sounds like my conrod bearing got problem, so I was afraid to boost higher also. In the end I think it is just the tuppet sound but anyway there's always next time :)

yea la, last time I got headache travelling from KLIA to my house because I didn't have any midbox (just s-flow without midbox). Also everytime go to car park those sensitive car alarms always start making noise. Thats why I kept my s-flow and added a midbox. Unless I find something that can replace the quietness I'll still to this setup la. Don't mind the power loss for a piece of mind.

cool.. lsd :) which one r u looking for, evo 3 gearbox with lsd or mivec gearbox with lsd? Or can u just get the lsd and fit it on?
 
i used the Exedy 3-puck mettalic clutch on my VR4 last time and surprisingly...it managed to hold the power up to 400 WHP...on 4WD...

hmmm...call it value for money...hehehe...

but Mitsu clutches alwiz have one problem...the damn fly wheel tends to burn and crack....and later will warp a lil...so if u decide to change a NEW clutch...send the flywheel in fer a light skim....run it in for a couple of weeks...and it shud bite fine...

I heard that replacement driveshafts for evo 3 quite expensive and hard to find, so u might think of purchasing a spare set for safekeeping.

how come your gear ratios got 2 ratings? eg 1st gear 2.750 3.083? Which one is the original ratio and which one is the modified one?
 
first one is for e3, next one is for the stock 1.8gbox, e3 seems to have taller gearing, but the final drive is much shorter, dunno hor
 
ahh got it, so with the evo 3 gearbox jack will be one of the gsr king already..keke ms jun must watch out

dolly. btw do u still want the cf hood? coz I did not proceed to spray until I get your confirmation. Checked the hood, it's impossible to leave it without the side lines or fade in, there is a gap in between 1cm and 2 cm depending on which edge.

Still have not put in the Gb yet as just returned from holidays, now car its all show and no go, got loud loud sound only but move like turtle as anything above stock boost and above 5k rpm it will slip badly.. all cars can tapau me now wei ..
 
for the meantime only...keke but soon... a new king is born :D

mine also have to drive slowly now, one of the crossmember screw hole has no more teeth so my mounting is loose, have to weld it back and drive like a turtle in the meantime.

but..... still cannot compare to FR in terms of enjoyment, have to get my volvo rebuilt after this, kena racun by stanley's S14 already..heheh
