The reason someone like me will continue to complain is because we want greater things and as such, we have to compare ourselves with bigger more successful nations. Should the starving millions in Africa be thankful for what they have? If they demand for more food, would that be considered looking at things from a pessimists point of view? Why not be happy with what little they have now instead and be optimistic about it? My point is everyone is worse of than someone else.
Fact is that we are a developed nation and if you believe what you are told, we are looking to further our progress. With this in mind, I don't find it too much at all for citizens of our nation to want what other more developed nations have. On the flipside, if the government had told us they wanted Malaysia to be a third world country for eternity, we would have nothing to complain about.
Yes, a complaint here might not make a big difference. It's the same as saying me saving the life of one whale won't make a great impact on the world's whale population, but you have to believe that every little bit works. Why not cut down 1000 more trees and build a shopping mall there? Afterall, there are millions of trees in the world. Every little bit counts, every little bit matters.
