Damn.. feel sorry for the owner. Must have either hit a curb or wheels hit something when the car counter steered, after losing control, for it to turtle. hard to imagine it turtle otherwise.. Hope the driver is OK.

woo....so sorry to see that, really hope driver is ok...last week an E7 in my place here also accident, hit untill the tree also fall down.....

After much reading and viewing explanation about the E7 to E9, i think the car generate a lot of oversteer in high speed corner. Alas, E4-E6 less oversteer, so i think E7 and E9 owner must learn how to counter steer, as from a lot of comment abt this oversteer issue is that this system is good as when oversteering, we tend to have more speed in corner and the car point exactly where we want it to be.. but on the downside, we need to be more alert when this oversteer occurs.. most casses, car drivers did not anticipate this oversteer, thus got panic and lost control of the car.. especially in our (malaysia) road condition where it's not smooth as in other country.

Just my quarter..

I don't think Evo's like Kerinchi Link, man. So many being destroyed there. Maybe it jinxed ...

Nothing wrong with the Kerinchi Link, more like EVO drivers underestimating the severity of the corners and/or overestimating their cars. The corners are actually very tight, almost comparable to Turn 14 in Sepang so if you go in above 110km/h (very easy since you'll hit 200+ at the first turn if you shoot off from the tollhouse), you really struggle to rein in the understeer.

Secondly, the I find EVOs in general but the IX in particular to be very prone to lift-off oversteer. You don't even have to lift completely to kick the tail out! And once you lift off, all that AYC magic goes down the toilet, and unless you can convince yourself to power on again (unlikely unless you've been trained to do it), AYC and AWD can do nothing to help you recover.

Still, sad to see another great car down the drain (literally). And, man, the aluminium roof will be next to impossible to repair properly.

I think most Evo owners overestimating themselve n not de Evos... Hahaha... Too much 2F2F movie mayb...

DDgreystar,

Yo buddy, heard from my fren de accident actually happened at 1 of our 'favourate' speed run route man where v normally go at nite time la... :Emoticon_U: Many takut le... Better dun go there starting from today la... Its de 1st day of de 'Ghost Mth' today man... :x-: Hehehe...

sigh.......yeap agree once tail lifts off......60 - 80% crash case....unless unless......its paul walker :)

Unless you hit the throttle AND point at the right direction.. cause the AYC will kick in and unless you point to the right direction (not counter-steer), you are likely to kick the tail out the other direction.

I still countersteer, but just that I wind out the lock a lot quicker than I normally would, the moment I feel it correcting is when I straighten the wheel. I just can't bring myself to believe that you shouldn't counter.

I'm theorising that the 'do not countersteer as AYC will throw you off' thing started due to overcompensation in countersteering, which is extremely easy to do in an EVO since a) the steering is very quick, and b) AWD traction means that the front wheels also pull you in the direction your aiming.

Hence, I suspect the cases where AYC suddenly shoots the car around is probably due to drivers not remembering to unwind the steering or unwinding the steering too slowly or too late.

You see this phenomenon all the time in driving schools. People are normally so precoccupied with counter-steering that they forget that they have to straighten it out once the car corrects itself. Normal oversteer scenario in advanced driving school: Car oversteers left, driver counters right, car corrects, driver reacts too slowly, car fishtails in opposite direction, driver starts to counter left, car corrects violently, pendulum motion too great, car spins out.
