thinking to buy 2nd hand sports car after getting the license......

Nah! Performance car is not suitable for a beginner. Maintaining the engine and other wear and tear is quite complicated. I have seen newbies getting conned by workshop for small issue. We will never know what has the previous owner done to his ride.
Get a new MYVI or Saga FLX which is a decent car to start / learn with. If you don't like locals, Up the budget for Almera or Vios. Why new car? peace of mind as no wear and tear issue and there is this thing call warranty.

Kinda agree, forgot that it will be his 1st car. 1st car best get something not so powerful
Cuz you are not familiar with driving yet. Won't be able to handle cars that is too powerful for a beginner.

Get a Myvi 1.5, decent enough

if im buying a car for my son about your age, i wouldnt get him a sports car straight although
i have rm50k standy to purchase a car.
i would have gotten him a used satria 1.3, tell him that he is responsible for the car's wear & tear parts,
go find a suitable workshop & a spare part shop to buy his parts & get it fixed.
but along the way i will assist him, so wont kena cheated.

also stated that there will be no illegal races involved, no driving at high speeds, if encountered with that
i will reposes the car from him & will be taking bus to college.
this will go on for 2-3 years until he has my trust & if he is responsible enough will get him a sports car.....if not keep on using the satria 1.3, no changing engine allowed.

I'd be more proud to own an AE86 than the new 86... old is gold! But i still went ahead to buy new car coz of "warranty"...Those older cars maintenance could go up real high....one day its fine and dandy, following week foreman say have to change engine coz bearing la, rods la bengkok! rest of the month eat roti and still the same kuli at work. True story...my friend....LOL

Ya, new cars still at least hassle and problem free, I bought 2nd hand kelisa, even though is just minor maintenance but add up, quite few thousands in changing certain parts. Still acceptable though.
2nd hand, can't expect it to be perfect though.

by the time my son grows up my eterna will become besi buruk edi.....he also malu to use....

By that time maybe you turn it into monster leh
I also driving old car ma

Just like Bunta passing down the old car to Takumi

U wanna be successful in kau-lui-ng? Get a Myvi. Want to get attention from guys? Get almost any sports car...another true story. One reason why I wanna get a Myvi now for third car but future finance minister did not allow me..she will break it into pieces if I get that car..another true story

Agree with most of their advices, for a new driver like me and you, I think its best to go for normal everyday drive cars. Or if you still insist to get something more sporty,Satria Neo wouldnt be a bad choice I think? I dont have the guts to drive around with a sports car, sekali langgar, here lubang there lubang, pocket also lubang.

just buy a used neo 1.6mt with some minor mod..the car is sporty, quite new, low maintenance, great handling and have more potential for mod.

Yep, a mildly modded Satria Neo is a great shout....I would even consider the Satria Gti, but they are older, thus require more care. Not ot mention a theft magnet.

i got one satria gti year 2000.

Agree, a great car but then, year 2000 really not for one that can't really afford the maintenance.
Need someone that can really care for the car...

I can't comment about the Neo, but I know for a fact the Satria GTI is not a cheap car to maintain. DOHC meaning double of everything. Double over head cams, double the power and double the maintenance costs. It's amazing how a 4G93 can cost so much more to maintain in terms of parts and stuff compared to the SOHC counterparts.

Even aftermarket parts the GTI is more expensive.

Oh and there's a Satria GTI R3 in the marketplace for sale going for RM47,000. Ooga
