The 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season continued its high-octane momentum at the Zhuhai International Circuit last weekend. Rounds 3 and 4 delivered a masterclass in competitive racing, marked by tactical overtakes, early-race drama, and standout performances across all categories.

Team Porsche Malaysia’s Naquib Azlan showcased blistering raw pace by securing a double pole position for the second consecutive event. However, the tight confines of the Zhuhai circuit ensured that leading from the front was anything but simple.

Round 3: Amand Takes Control

The opening race on Saturday saw Porsche Junior Marcus Amand (#3 BWT Shanghai Yonda) utilize a superior start to jump Azlan for the lead before Turn 1. The race was briefly red-flagged due to a multi-car incident in the pack, but Amand maintained his composure on the restart.

Azlan’s pursuit of the leaders was hampered by a spin during an overtaking maneuver, allowing Marco Giltrap (Team Porsche New Zealand) and Rodrigo Dias Almeida (Wetrade X Phantom Global) to secure the remaining podium spots. Amand’s victory propelled him into the lead of the overall championship.

Round 4: Tauscher Triumphs Amid Chaos

Sunday’s race was defined by a chaotic opening lap. A braking error by Giltrap into Turn 1 triggered a chain reaction that swept up the front-runners, including Amand and Azlan.

Capitalizing on the shuffle, Alexander Tauscher (Absolute Racing)—filling in for Marvin Klein—seized the lead. Despite two Safety Car interruptions, Tauscher executed perfect restarts to claim the win, followed closely by Dias Almeida. Marcus Amand produced the drive of the day, carving back through the field from the opening-lap incident to snatch third place and secure a double Dealer Trophy win for BWT Shanghai Yonda.

Beyond the Track: A Porsche Festival

  • The Porsche Parade: A celebratory lap featuring hundreds of customer-owned Porsches.
  • Porsche Driving Center: An opportunity for fans to test their skills on one of China’s premier circuits.
  • Tech Debut: Drivers have now fully acclimated to the new Porsche 911 Cup (992.2), leading to closer racing and higher limits.

What’s Next?

With the China leg of the season concluded, the grid now prepares for a change in scenery and climate. The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia heads to the iconic Fuji Speedway in Japan from 8 to 10 May 2026, where the long start-finish straight and technical final sector will offer a fresh set of challenges.
