I can't comment about the Neo, but I know for a fact the Satria GTI is not a cheap car to maintain. DOHC meaning double of everything. Double over head cams, double the power and double the maintenance costs. It's amazing how a 4G93 can cost so much more to maintain in terms of parts and stuff compared to the SOHC counterparts.

Even aftermarket parts the GTI is more expensive.

Hmm not really. I used to own a Lancer 4G93 DOHC and IMHO it's one of the cheapest car for me to maintain! Some parts are even cheaper than the SOHC engine, for instance the servo/idle up on the 4G93 DOHC is only half the price of the servo for the 4G92 SOHC. Many parts are the same for both so differences are not that big, definitely not double the cost.

Which servo? Let's have a quick comparison in costs. My 4G15 parts vs your 4G93. I'm curious to know how much cheaper it is in comparison. I recall doing up a 4G93 engine sometime back and even the head alone costs so much more than the SOHC one. Aftermarket camshafts double the price because double the cams. Cam gears double too.

Throttle body is somewhat comparable in price so that's not applicable.

The head gasket I recall was more expensive than the 4G15 one, not by much (we're talking about RM80) but still more expensive (stock vs stock).

4G92 is very similar to 4G93 but 1.6ltr. In Indonesia they have the 4G92 SOHC, 4G93 SOHC, & 4G93 DOHC for Lancers. I had the 4G93 DOHC. Maintenance wise they're almost the same. The one I remember very expensive is the 4G92 servo control, it's the idle up valve in the throttle body. The 4G92 servo is almost double the price of the 4G93 one. 4G92 also have to do regular valve clearance adjustments while 4G93 uses HLA so no need to do anything provided the HLA are still good and you uses good oil (but if HLA already bad, then will be expensive to replace all). As for the 4G93 SOHC, almost everything also the same. Of course cam Gears are double in the DOHC but other things are still very similar.

4G15 is a much older design for more fair comparison I think. In Indonesia only have carbu version 8v & 12v only as well, so I don't compare with that.
