With drifting coming up big, I believe it's now time for us few drifters out there to band together. We don't need an official club, but at least some semblance of an organisation. The usual lah.. street group thing. Ppl like myself and Tiresmoke unfortunately don't have enough free time these days to lead on this, can someone out there do it? I nominate MK.. B) and we can just call ourselves the Sideways Syndrome team or something. Why should we do this??? a) More control over the image of drifting - at the moment, there are quite a few factions out there that are grouping together and picking up drifting. Doing it the wrong way will give Drifting a bad name and image. We don't want to end up with the same profile as those Kap-Chai Supermen out there, do we? - As a group, we can therefore control better how we practise our drifting. Yes yes there will always be an illegal side to it and all the night touges etc, but if we find out that someone has been f**king around then we can penalise/tell him off. B) Better clout when it comes to requesting for special track days, rental of areas, etc - As it is, when drifters head to Sepang, we don't really get much respect. Even trying to organise a drift day is so difficult. With a proper members database, it'd be a lot easier to request for areas for drifitng, as we'd have a list of the ppl that would most likely come, we would know how many drifters are out there, etc - We could even go to certain workshops and garages and ask them to be part of the group, give discounts, and in return we'll all do our cars there (provided of course that they are good and can pakai!) c) Better information dissemination of the new motorsport of Drifting to both the media as well as those that want to get started.- The unofficial club could have a President, Media Rep, etc. and we could start getting close to the press and provide us with coverage. This is so that ppl understand it better, and again so that we come up with the right image. - It would also allow new and would be drifters to join up and have a voice, have a group. This is preferable than to go off drifting all by himself and get in trouble with the law etc. Plus if someone ditches there are a lot of ppl around to help out! - And of course we'll have a website with info and pictures - And the senior drifters can helpl give out tips and etc d) and in the long term, we could head towards being registered or something!! So how about it guys/drfiters?? If everyone thinks this is a good idea and can band together for the better of the sport, then let's do it. /adian
