POINT ONE: Visual Check Open up your engine hood and check for oily stick black colored film around your engine. Squat down and look on the floor for oil stain. If you can see the dirty marking on your engine or oil stain on the floor, then it is obvious your engine need to be check by a mechanic POINT TWO: Engine Oil Check Engine Oil that is design to protect your engine wear and tear is subjected to weight loss over the intended period. The limit is typical 25-30% over the intended duration regardless of viscosity Say you buy a 20W50 mineral grade engine oil, you should be expecting a maximum of 25~30% losses at the end of 5000km oil change If you buy a 10W40 semi grade engine oil, you should be expecting a maximum of 25~30% losses at the end of 10,000km oil change Say you buy a 5W30 mineral grade engine oil, you should be expecting a maximum of 25~30% losses at the end of 15,000km oil change If the losses of engine oil is more than 30% of your purchase engine oil, then it is obvious your engine need to be check by a mechanic Did you buy an API and vehicle manufacturer approve engine oil? From an honest mechanic? Don’t buy from Spare Parts shop as they can be quite crooker than you think they are POINT THREE: When it happen? Did you recent service your car? Does you mechanic fix all your problem? Especially in an engine oil change, the Nut must be screw correctly, the filter must fit nicely and must be a god quality product too to prevent leak. More than half / 50% of the market oil filter is low quality products and not design to do their job which is to filter the oil. The seal on a poor quality filter does leak within a day or two and the leak is not easily observe as it happened due to pressurize situation. POINT FOUR: Is it time for your engine need to be overhaul? If your vehicle is more than 10 years old or you are feeling your vehicle is consuming a lot of petrol recently, You vehicle engine valves and seal most probably worn off. And you need a quick fix too from your mechanic.
