Ori Lancer chasis and spot weld design are not meant to withstand evo's engine Gs so you need to have this basics checked out, preferbally with a reinforce argon spot weld throughout the bay and chasis especially on the wheel base area..</p><p></p><p><em>2) Can an Ori CM2A RWD able to withstand the force of a 4G63T? Do it still need to cut and modify the rear bottom or shaft (sorry ive little knowledge about evo's<img src="https://zerotohundred.com/forums/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/confused.gif" class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt=":confused:" title="Confused :confused:" data-shortname=":confused:" />)?</em></p><p><em></em>Refer above and the answer is NO, it can't withstand in it's original lancer out of the factorm chasis form in a long run. Btw, CM2A is 4WD and not RWD. I suspect you meant the entire rear 4WD floor panel, the answer is yes and no, depending on how the conversion is done and type of rear lower arm is used. Evo 4 has shorter steel arm offset compared to Evo 5 and 6 aluminium-alloy based arm.</p><p></p><p><em>3) What sort of common problem should i look into before purchasing the converted cars?</em></p><p><em></em>- A converted evo and a ori evo is the same interms of problems except for the chasis tear part, assuming it wasn't properly strenghten. Other than that, look into the normal points of observation when buying a used car, ie it's service record, type of modification, engine/gear/brakes/p.steering fluid or oil leak sign, unusual sounds from enginer/gear (might need a experience owner/mechanic to check for you, tagging along). </p><p></p><p><em>4) I'll plan to thrash a bit of the car and will the chassis last? will the rear wheel welding area give way easily?</em></p><p>I believe this is a repeating questions as I've answered above. If it's properly converted to an acceptable safe level, I would not see any reason for it to give way. So far, I've not heard nor seen any news of converted lancers/evo killed or injured in action...**touchwood**.</p><p></p><p><em>5) How to know whether is the whole gear still in a reasonable condition?</em></p><p><em></em>If you are seasoned driver of manual cars, driving it around would give some sign. Follow your insticnt and take note of gear shift sound. Again, best is to get a experience evo mechanic or friend whom knows about evo to test-drive with you. It is really hard to express 'how' in words here.</p><p></p><p><em>6) Lastly,the seller mentioned it wont have any difficulties with JPJ on the 4WD since its an Ori 4WD and will there be any forsee problem with Insurance company when claiming for such converted Evo's?</em></p><p>As long as the 4WD conversion is legal (CK2A is not legal, Fyi), then you will not face any issue and will get insurance and road tax coverage. As for insurance, it is to insure against injury and accident and doesn't really care whether your car is 4WD, 2WD or RWD.</p><p></p><p>Additional advice on aftermarket parts</p><p>- Evo parts and it's aftermarkets (usually upgrades) are rather expensive so it is worthwhile to take note of modification that comes with a potential evo/lancer you are looking into. WHile it may cost more, you need to look at the actual market value of those parts and decide if the price offered as 'bundled' is worthwhile. In most cases, you will end up spending lots more to get them as 'new' and upgrade them yourselves (labour charges and effort).</p><p></p><p>Hope these helps and as advice by Leslie, it would be good if you can join us for a Teh-Tarik (TT) session so we can share more face 2 face and to get more feedback sharing from others.</p><p></p><p>Good luck in your hunting.</p><p></p><p><strong>B18C-R</strong></p></blockquote><p></p>
