Motorsport Asia, the Organiser and promoter of the Series since its inception in 2003, has been hard at work putting plans in place for the next season.Motorsport Asia, the Teams, the suppliers and those involved in the Series are all in agreement that it is vital to the motorsport scene in the region, as it supports and provides a unique platform for young aspiring drivers.“We have been hard at work putting together everything necessary to continue with the Championship. The calendar is beginning to take shape with a total of six race weekends planned” said David Sonenscher, CEO of Motorsport Asia.The Calendar will consist of three or four Asian Festival Of Speed Events, with four races to be held at each AFOS event. Discussions are currently taking place concerning two other high profile International events and Motorsport Asia is also holding an option to continue the Championship’s involvement in the Macau Grand Prix. Meaning that the Calendar will be made up of between 17 and 20 races.The expansion of Official testing, to provide up to 4 days prior to each AFOS event, is also being considered. This would be in addition to independent tests held by the Teams.“Our aim is to continue to provide a cost effective platform for the development of young drivers, whilst maximising the time that they have in the car.“We have meetings scheduled with the Teams during next week’s event in Guangdong as well as a further meeting, scheduled during the Singapore Grand Prix, to iron out any remaining small details. We will release the calendar for the upcoming year at the end of September” he concluded.With 2010 being the strongest ever year since the Formula BMW Pacific Series started, it will be more a question of fine tuning, rather than radical reorganisation.</blockquote>
