Toyota has dropped a ‘Speed’ in between Land and Cruiser for one Land Cruiser project. The said word come with these elements; twin-turbo, 2000hp and 352km/h. Meet the Toyota Land Speed Cruiser, the hyper SUV created by the company for this year's SEMA Show.
That is what you get when a carmaker shows its naughty side while leading a bunch of clever engineering team with limitless budget.
Kicking out a stonking 2000hp is Toyota’s 3UR-FE 5.7-litre V8 that has plugged on, 2 Garrett turbos which the company officially describes as ‘the size of volleyballs’. It is the same engine that propels other US-market Toyotas like the Tundra, Sequoia, LX and GX, which is normally rated at 381hp.

Toyota Motorsports tech Sam Puleri says, “The biggest problem is trying to get it down to the ground and getting it lowered. To do that we have to rework the suspension which means getting all the axle lines straight... everything that’s powertrain has to come up, and everything else has to stay down.”
Based on the interior images in the Land Speed Cruiser videos, it seems that the SUV has undergone a slight diet, making it lighter than a 2,615kg mass of stock Land Cruiser. To handle the massive power output, a custom-made transmission has been developed, channeling the power to super-wide wheels, which required the whole SUV’s track to be narrowed by 3-inches to fit.

Toyota is already calling this ‘the world’s fastest SUV’, although the actual record-setting run is yet to be done. Technically, the 300km/h Bentley Bentayga is still the world’s fastest SUV from the factory.
Nevertheless, the Land Speed Cruiser is an outstanding build. It’s a Land Cruiser that can’t go off-road, but who cares?

Comes with the gold brembo calipers as well?
