Stellar sub?

Did anybody heard about Stella Sub-woofer? anycomment about it?

Stellar, believe me when I tell you that there is nothing stellar about their performance .. hehe. I get a lot of stick thru my pm's from guys who hate it when I pass negative remarks abt these locally made product. ie Stellar, Prokick, Adams Digital, Mohawk etc etc. In truth, I despise all these products for a simple reason, no quality. The companies that made these brands don't have R&D for their products, their technical specs & parameters are bogus, with the only exception on their finishing & packaging, in short .. bulls**t. So if you have some extra cash to splash, burn it on some real deal, I dunno your groove ( SQ or SPL ), but
you could try Rockford, Kicker, JBL, JL, Zapco, MTX, ARC, Steg & so on. If you don't why not just wait a little longer. You wouldn't live to regret it.

.. i share the same sentiment with u, energie.. but somehow these products exist 4 a reason ie. to cater for icer with low budget.. but if the demand for audio reproduction is high, many will go for trusted & reliable brands albeit high price.. guess what u pay is what u get ;)
besides r&d, established brands have good service from the company itself, foreign companies do answer customers queries via email.. its just that the local distributor sucks sometimes ;)

Don'tknow about other brands; but brands like Stellar and Prokick have been around in Malaysia for a long time especially Stellar, may be 10 years. Seen some of their recent model amps circuit board and components; my personal opinions are that they're in the higher end in relation to circuit board design & components; how do they do it without R&D? Senang saja Malaysia style, copy and photostat of course lah from a OEM supplier which maybe manufacture for branded US design and re-badge. If I'm not wrong correct me, recently in KL a fully equipped 'Prokick'(amps & woofer) took the 'Outlaw' DB Drag title crushing all their other reputable US brand dealers vehicle(mostly previous year champions) and had their head shaking in defeat. These brands include Rockford, MTX, JL Audio, Phoenix Gold, Soundstream, Kicker with some Cerwin-Vega. Don't get me wrong as I'm no Stellar or Prokick salesman or audio shop owner. Who says Malaysia Tak-Boleh.

Heh, another Procrap hopeful. I'll correct you, the local DBDrag & Racing champion is still JS Audio's Tarantula loaded beast. No Procrap or whatever took top honours in DBDrag, it's nice to dream of it happening tho if you're a sad owner of these sad products. I saw IASCA's outlaw spl once, which Procrap did take honours with the mic being in the vents. In the vents??? Whatttt laaaa .. on the dash la, any idiot would hit high with mic on the inside .. tsk tsk. I can't share your sentiment of being a proud Malaysian for copying products tho, you stand alone on that statement M'sia Boleh crap when you're not inventing things. M'sia Boleh ape .. boleh blah. Macam pirate, copy cukup, ini quality baik punye .. heh. I'll be a very proud Malaysian when the day comes where a Procrap or whatever take on the world title or shatter the records like when Art Shaker did 176.1 with Rockford Fosgate, or when Alma Gates was kickin' ass with her Kicker Solos loaded Beast or like when Chilli Roberts pounded the foundation of the earth with his heart stopping 175++db Cerwin Vega Strokers loaded in a Volkswagon bus or like when Scott Johnson broke the damn door of his 4x4 with his bullpenned Adire Brahmas, or like when Team Badabing of MTX's Team Thunderforce broke the windshields of their presurised truck with a 22" MTX Jackhammer powered by one watt, 1 watt! No dude, you do not have your facts right, you do not rewrite records with Procrap, nobody shook heads when Procrap won, I for one laughed.

i believe there's something really good made in malaysia, jst duno why when ppl know it's made in malaysia, they lost their confidence, but i believe some are still better than those made in china since alot off brand are made in china...!

Ah yes Dique, branded stuffs still means they're better than these M'sian stuffs. You were asking around abt JL Audio W3 sub were you not, why not a Prokick? Call me names for all I care, but a Proton doesn't drive like a Beemer, or even a Kia. It can have all the outlook & the finish, but that's abt it. Sure not all these top brands have all their products made in their country anymore, but would you settle for Prokick amp over a Brax or a Rockford amp? You would if you know nuts abt quality. Of course I don't make Cerwin Vega or MTX or whatever you idiot, but then again do you make these pathetic Procrap or Stellar? I don't think so.
But if you did, then that'll explain why you guys are so pissed at me.
I get nothing out of defending these top brands, matter of fact like I told you before, I get a lot of stick by doing so, but I guess someone's gotta do it, you do not want to waste your good RM on some worthless junk. Unless of course, Stellar wins this year IASCA sound quality challenge ... yeah rite. Hehe.

I agree with Pjam on this. Each person has their own likes and dislike. So, let's just answer the actual question for this thread. Put the thoughts of brand bashing and focus on the matter that we really should address on this thread.

I said specifically Stellar, Prokick, Adams Digital, Shuttle Lab , yada yada yada are crap. Read post #4 where Quickshift replied, he said it himself, NO R&D. If that's suppose to be good then I think Focal was wasting their time in the development of their Utopia Be or Morel for their Supremo. Avant Garde is Malaysian made, i have nothing except for praises for their products. It is admirable to think that there is actually a local ICE manufacturer going the extra mile for product quality. But mention Avant Garde to these jokers & they'll give you a blank stare. Know why? Coz like many other top brands, they do not have marketing gimmick, they do not have fancy & flashy finish, they do not mass produce their products & they do not have fully loaded demo vans going around M'sia. Pity how many unsuspecting consumers didn't fall for those things that many of these top brands chose not to have.

.. its not that local ICE products are crap, as many low quality brands are actually made in korea, china..
also, we have to look at budget.. lower quality ones appeal to the masses as it's cheap..
.. many also resort to using names which sound alike.. eg:
audiobank, rockfox, lightning acoustic..
.. not to mention, there r many imitations nowadays.. :frown:
yeah, can do blind test to judge sound quality.. but..
r the judges for ICE competition blindfolded when they sat in competitor's car? will the judges be biased in their decision when they look at the brand the competitor's been using? think about that :cool:

I agree. At that level of competition, sound quality becomes very subjective. The judge may be biased subconsciously towards a particular brand, and also by the looks of the setup.

Blind testing will be difficult to be effectively achieved because each setup is already installed in the respective teams' automobiles, but I'm sure it can be done.

Well, questioning competition judges credibility is where I draw the line. I have absolutely no comment. But I think higher price paid for better products usually in most cases always performs better. Keep in mind that more expensive products usually have better materials used. Better materials can improve reliability, power handling & installation options. A thousand RM spent on better materials doesn't always equate to RM 1k worth of better sound quality, but it's still worth paying the extra coin as long as you know what the advantages are rather than assuming.
