hi, i would like to ask anyone have modified their satria 1.3/1.6 exhaust into stock Sgti one? I know is possible but certain modification need to be done on the rear bumper, right? Is it very troublesome? How much for the labour charges?

Comment?

:)

Why not? The only worry would be as to whether or not the piping is too big for your engine displacement.

erm...

mind why do u want to do that for?

normal satria's want to b come sgti,

sgti want to become normal satria's?

jus curious ;)

i've seen some doing it, of course your piping size have to change, if not mistaken the original piping size for GTI is 1.75" or bigger, forgotten. Since yours is 1.3, should just opt to 1.75 that's all, if yours is 1.6, why not a 2" piping, giving quite some power and some HP may gain, but you won't feel much as it is a small margin..

just my 2 cents, correct me if i'm wrong k? thanks sifus

Im confused about the GTi's piping liao... lots of people told me 2". So I went to take a look, yeah 2". Then that day one of the forummers here corrected me to 1.75". I went to measure again, 2"...

But then that day when the workshop jacked my car up, I looked at it again and its lacking of 2" especially at the bends. I think I measued it at the wrong part of the piping last time... the straights are definately more than 1.75 (1.84526"? dunno :P) but I think the bends are 1.75"... so effective size is 1.75" kua.

Still, tonnes of people are telling me 2" including some in the cars industry. But the piping has different sizes at different places. :D

I think the correct measurement would be 1.75 'internal' diameter... nobody measures from the outside ler... which i'm assuming u did, unless u went and cut your exhaust pipes just to measure and then weld them back. hehehehez....

Anywayz... GTi exhaust is just for looks la... i dun think they'll give u any performance upgrade... downgrade maybe lar... hehehez.

alvin24 sifu, waiting for your answer to see whether am i correct or not, yeah! I'm correct, hahahaha 1.75 should be okay for 1.3 satria.

erm, not sure about performance though, cause i saw 1 satria 1.6 with GTI muffler and kits, i was doing around 120kph and he just potong me with ease, and it isn't a real highway, it's just a short highway, impossible to reach more than 120 so fast if your car is just a 1.6

just sharing some experience... hehehehe

Err yeah I measured from the outside... still looked like about 1.75 at the bends. I thought they normally measure from the outside? :P

Yeap the GTi's exhaust system really kelakar one... from the extractor onwards till the muffler buang only if want power. :P

my 2 sen.

yup, the stock proton rear exhaust boxes and pipings r crappy with lousy bending..... only suitable if wanna pass roadblock and to drive around with a baby :D

Mandrel bending shud b the way to go as to keep a consistent inside diameter throughout the pipe bend.

Some other points that i found & my 2 sen.....
Torque is determined by the extractor/header design and all of the power band tuning is done between the engine head and the final collector. The diameter and length of the primary pipes does play an important role as to where the peak point in RPM range occurs. The concern here is to reduce back pressure while maintaining flow velocity & exhaust pulses scavenging effect.

After the final collector, the exhaust function is to flow out the gases as smooth as possible while maintaining some back pressure & yes again, diameter still plays an important role. :)

This kinda thing very hard to say wan ma... u never know whut's inside till u open the bonnet... maybe he running 4G93 inside leh also u won't know lar... =)

Just like everytime I play with a GTi or a 1.6 and win... I so wish I could be inside their car to hear whut they have to say when they see i got no rear disc brakes! Hahaha...

Anywayz... point is, some things you can't tell from the outside wan la...

oh guys, forgot to tell that i have just installed a mivec 1.6 engine. thats the reason for me looking for Sgti exhaust. Main reason is i don like those LOUD and bassy exhaust. But i need that sgti exhaust to match the engine performance. Currently i am using the ori mivec extractor but the mid piping and rear box are still my stock 1.3 exhaust.

So can u guys imagine my agony???? :(

or u guys got any suggestion?

If thats the case... u put SGTi exhaust confirm ur mivec won't be at its full potential. Try going for a full custom exhaust setup with its piping following back original route, and then get an s-flow exhaust for your rear muffler... confirm silent. I know quite a mivec mivec users do this... close to OEM silence la.

why would u want to do that le? MIVEC 1.6 won't reach it's full potential on a 1.75" piping or a stock gti exhaust, u opt to go with a 2" or more well bent piping with an S-flow, but some straight flow isn't loud at all, I would recommend u search for a Pro 1 muffler, it may be cap ayam, but performance wise, it'll still increase...and it's quiet too. If u wan langsung no sound at all, follow alvin24, get an S-flow muffler. ;)

I would suggest u go to Jian Hang Exhaust shop for custom made exhaust system, spend more, then your results will be better...I saw his custom made MIVEC extractor which he showed me, it was properly weld and the extractor is beautifully made unlike some other shops. The price is you may think is quite expensive though but it's really worth it and reasonable depends on the material, the boss ah wah is really an honest guy, he'll explain everything to u 1st even if u never buy anything, if he's really free la. He even asked me to come find him at 9.00am whenever I'm free then he'll explain everything.

why not?if it suits your engine hp and displacement, opt for it.if its too big,you will loose performance.

batu caves, b4 the bp station there u turn in and go straight, u'll see Jian Hang on your left hand side, that day i went, i saw an FD and an Evo 6 fixing their stuffs....the evo 6 is installing a Banana in

Woi Mirage2929. Nice talking to you today... nice engine la... :)
Hows your problem already?

Go straight for 2" piping all the way le. 2"+ S-flow mufflers arent too hard to find as well.
