Whilst we were all distracted by the "Naked ear squats" issue, a tragedy has come to pass.

An innocent life was lost thanks to the left right combo of 2 bloody lowlife scumbags and a blood sucking inhumane private hospital.

I think getting medical insurance is important now adays....private hospitals are looking at $$ more than ecthics so better to have medical insurance so that your life will be taken care...

last time i went to assunta also same la...must deposit 5k otherwise no treatment one...

gahmen should really enforce the rule la
must treat el emergency cases whether or not the patien has money
its not the first time, last time it happened and the gov said same thing, till now also no action
wait till some datuk big shot son die cos of no identification then u'll see hell break loose

get the insurence card....so can give to the hospital...i use to have one....

"Revoke the license

Yesterday, Health Minister Dr Chua Soi Lek made a statement that private hospitals have to provide emergency services to all patients, including those with no money, or face losing their licence.

"Private hospitals must not forget their social obligations. From now on, we will not hesitate to revoke or suspend their licences (for not providing emergency services)," the Health Minister said.

According to Dr Chua, the emergency services include providing treatment, pre-hospital and ambulance services, and intervention and definitive treatment.

But, first thing first. We should out the name of that bloody private hospital where a precious life was wasted at its door step. We should hurl them into public ridicule for what they are made of. Medical practice should start from a decent grounding that portrays its fraternity must have a heart at the right places."

I which ones .. its Pantai Medical Centre Cheras ! .. hahahah ..Pantai Group better close down and go back home larr.. money suckers!

if govt are so concern about this...why dun they build more public hospital and clinics and provide health plan for malaysian then?...yes it is sad that private hospital sometimes are very money minded...but heck at the end of the day...medicine doesnt grow on trees...it cost money...a whole lot of it...and its not like once a week a similar case like this...a fren of mine told that the hospital she's working for got tons of same case...most of them doesnt even have insurance...there's also cases that patient cheated the hospital claiming that they were insured...but then after getting the treatment the patient themselves took off...well...its a sad case anyway...but we are living in the age where money is important....

Read about the news in the papers.
Again, typical Malaysian customer service. If anyone has seen Jeremy Clarkson's Heaven & Hell which involved a Kelisa, he said....

UPDATED TODAY - THE MALAY MAIL
-----------------------------------------

FOMCA BLASTS HEALTH MINISTRY
Step down, Chua told
P. SELVARANI
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Health Ministry has come under fire from the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (Fomca) for allowing private hospitals to give more importance to monetary gains than a person’s life.

Fomca accused the Ministry of neglecting its responsibility by not taking firm action against errant private hospitals, although it was empowered to do so under the Private Hospitals Act 1971.

Its secretary-general, Muhd Shaani Abdullah, criticised the Ministry for “continuing to issue warnings” to private hospitals, despite ample proof that some of them had neglected their responsibility.

“The case of Khairul Anuar Salim is a classic example. Why has the Ministry not revoked or suspended the licence of the private hospital concerned?

“The Health Minister should resign if those under his charge do not know what their priorities are,” he said.

Muhd Shaani’s criticism comes in the wake of the statement by Health Minister Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek that the Ministry would suspend or revoke the licences of private hospitals which did not give emergency treatment to patients in need.

Khairul Anuar, 17, was allegedly denied emergency treatment by a hospital because the family could not immediately pay the RM5,000 deposit.

His uncle, Sallehuddean Latiff, claimed that the hospital only treated his nephew an hour after he was sent to the hospital on Saturday.

“They did not want to treat him until I paid a deposit.

“They only took him into the operation theatre when his situation turned critical, by which time it was too late,” he said.

Muhd Shaani said doctors and those who managed hospitals should remember that their primary duty was to save lives.

He said the Ministry should be held responsible for allowing this degradation in values as it had the power to act against those who neglected their primary duty as healthcare providers.

“Has the licence of any private hospital been suspended or revoked in all these years that cases of negligence have been reported? Khairul Anwar’s case was not the first and I believe it will not be the last for as long as action is not taken against those who fail in their duty.”

Encountered this b4 with Pantai Medical in PG... my aunt was hit with motorcycle (cursed the young fella for doing stunts on public road) and sustained serious injuries on her head back in 2000.

At first, some kind souls brought her to Pantai Medical, a private hospital because it is nearer. Upon reaching there, they refused to admit her (need a relative to sign the forms). My uncle showed up in 5 mins and was asked by the hospital staff to put up front RM 5k as deposit. As he did not have the cash, they refused to admit her.

Without a choice, he called for an ambulance and had brought to a general hospital. Staff at GM were efficient and fast, they treat her case as emergency and proceed with the operation (all without signing anything).

In the end, she passed away a few days later (according to doctor, her skull cracked and the brain suffered massive bleeding - and should be treated by doctors in less than 15 mins). Stupid Pantai Medical delayed everything for nearly an hour!

Weeks after her funeral, my whole family sued the private hospital. Case still pending.

The youth who knocked down even refused to attend the funeral - he was afraid we might whack him up. In the end, he lived with a guilty conscience. Last I heard, he went bonkers and ended up in the mental institute.

acbc,
Case still pending? From year 2000? Really, what the fuck is the court doing? Fucking their own daughters?

"In the end, he lived with a guilty conscience. Last I heard, he went bonkers and ended up in the mental institute." - satria, mental patients are not applicable to be charged for their past offences till they cure to normal state.
